I keep hearing about this "system" that tells you to send $1 to each e-mail listed with a note stating, "Add me to your list". Then add your e-mail to the bottom of the list and post it at least 200 times. I was wondering if this system really works.
Any comments or experience with it?

Chances are, it is a scam. Quick and easy money often results in you getting ripped off, so I would stay away if I were you...

These type if scams have been going on for years now. I would avoid anything that promises to make you rich by blindly sending money and expecting others to do same for you.

Very good way to lose your Paypal account and all the money you
have in there.
This has been going on for years, even before the Internet existed.
The U.S. Postal Service prohibits such scheme using regular mail.
This is a form of a pyramid scheme (an illegal on I might add).
Trust me.
I learned the hard way when I didn't know any better. I signed up
for it. Here was what I did:
- bought a mailing list from a list broker
- bought hundreds of stamps and envelopes
- made hundreds of photocopies
- stuff hundreds of envelopes and sent them off
- waited...waited...waited...
This was how much I received from my investment and work...
$0.00
I did receive a notification from the postmaster stating that even
though the letter may say it's legal according to some postal or
lottery law, it's not.
I was warn that if I mailed out any letters of that nature, I would be
charged with a felony.
You can find more information regarding this on the FTC and U.S.
Postal Service sites.
Paypal have already terminated accounts of users who participated
in these type of pyramid scheme. When that happens, good luck
getting your money.

Yep classic chain letters. there are some out there that use a loophole to be considered "legal"
example of such is where the 5 people (or how ever many) send you a "report" when you send them the $1 these "reports" are basically junk that tells you how to promote it with posting on forums, traffic exchanges, safelists ect ect. pretty much junk you can find for free in countless places around the net.
Anyway the point is since you are paying for a "product" it claims to be legal, which i think may be true but ehh don't quote me.
Anyway even with that it does not change what the end result will be. you probably wont make any money

Yes its a HUGE scam and totally illegal.
They try and word it to suggest that its all above board.
Its not.
Paypal will block your account,and you can go to jail.

I had one of these letters come through my letterbox here at home. It suggested i send $20 to the top name as a gift. The sales letter was quite convincing but i still threw it in the bin.

I lost my Paypal account way back in '96 when I tried out one of these chain letters.
Had a list of FFA email addresses and sent the letter out on Saturday morning, by Saturday night Paypal had froze my account.
If you get these in an email delete them immediately.

It doesn't "work" in that is isn't sustainable. Only the starters of the chain and those who join early get rich. Everyone else loses their money.
Furthermore, it's illegal.
From a marketing perspective it "works" in that it is so appealing that if promoted effectively, it spreads like wildfire. But the fire burns very bright and burns out quickly because it gets shut down every time.
It's a pyramid scheme. Take money from John to pay Steve. All they do is shuffle the money around until it collapses. The top guys siphon bits throughout.
ASD is a perfect example. The founders will almost certainly get burned and many late-comers or those who kept reinvesting have been cheated out of thousands.
