I was just curious as to the number of unique visitors/hits you get on your websites on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. I know some might not feel comfortable sharing this kind of information, but I was just looking for some kind of realistic goal/benchmark to shoot for. Of course one must realize that clicks does not equal success, however the more quality hits the more likely chance for success! Thanks!

 Brandon

p.s. I had 375 hits for the month of May.

That's great. What advertising methods are the most successful for you? I did not have that many
but I have stopped all of my PPC advertising since I have just gotten Contactmate up and running this week and I want to track my success rate on that method only for a bit.

 Hi Brandon,

That's very good! I can keep track of my traffic also. Just for interest, I had somebody on my site for 58 min....yesterday...

 I hope he/she wasn't copying my html's...

right now I am using ppc advertising along with free classified ads on random websites. I can say that yahoo has the contributed the highest number of hits for the the cheapest price! I have found it quite difficult to get much out of google. I have not bought leads because I am still quite skeptical about them. my next feat is conversion. converting hits into prospects and prospects into sales!

Depends on how old your website is, older websites usually get more traffic

 Brandon,

Thanks for your input on where you are getting your best leads. I was using Google ppc and getting quite a few leads, but it got awfully expensive. I have been using bidvertiser. It is cheaper but I am not getting a lot of leads there unless I have it advertising worldwide. I am getting most my leads now from a sources I didn't track, so I am not sure where they are coming from!

What do you post on craigslist? I have used it for my inventory business, but hadn't thought of it for advertising a business system. Or do you just promote products?

BTW - 78 unique visitors since May 15th at aablehomeservices.

8 since yesterday with my sig line.

yeah, i get about 15-25 hits a month from this forum
From what I could see, it is $75.00 to post a classified on craigslist. Does/has anybody posted there? That seems pretty steep for a single listing.

Quoting: griffiths I was just curious as to the number of unique visitors/hits you get on your websites...
Unique Visitors and Hits are actually two different sets of statistics.

A unique visitor is generally recorded by IP address, cookie, or other method and is tracked over a specific period - usually 30 days. This number is consistently lower than hits, which count the number of files that load when a Web page is called.

 Example:

If I visit a web page that has 3 graphics, the number of hits that would be recorded when that page loads is 4 (1 page + 3 graphics). Correspondingly, I would be recorded as 1 unique visitor based on my IP address.

Now, if I looked at other pages on that site, the number of hits would increase, but I would still be counted as 1 unique visitor.

While none of these statistics is100 percent reliable, the unique visitor number is a much more realistic traffic measurement than hits.

 Thank you for the clarification!
I was referring to unique visitors but I loosely used the term "hits" as well. I am able to track both unique visitors and the number of pages that each unique visitor visits. I agree that the unique visitor statistic is a much better indicator then hits.

Really? Then I must be doing something right!! I don't know WHAT mind you! I'm on the first page of google for my #1 targeted search term (and the other 2 are coming up!) and my site has been up 6 weeks or so?

I'm working on figuring out how to track the traffic well.. does anyone have any suggesstions? My phone is ringing off the HOOK- but I would really like to see where they are coming in from, where they are going, and what they are doing there!

 Cheers

 Thanks Vishal!

I actually got my hands an a groovy little program yesterday.. seems to be easy to use (great, as I'm not what you could possibly call technically inclined!)

I found google analytics to be confusing, though it looks very powerful!

 Cheers all

Oh yes! It can be intimidating to newbies as well as pros! Would you mind sharing what you came across?

I haven't used both those, but I've used Google Analytics and Statcounter before on the same web page with no problems.

There shouldn't be any problem, but adding too many of them could cause your pages to download slowly.

As I am expanding my advertising as many of you are and im way behind the curve as far a PPC goes I have a few questions for you all. What is an average cost per month many of you are paying for your PPC's and what kind of results are you seeing? Do you all use landing pages or your regular websites? For a novice in the PPC field what would any of you suggest would be my first venture to start with? I get plenty of people talking to me about SEO and other avenues but im still trying to learn it all.

I did find a great company that is looking to optimize everyones PPC stuff but im unsure of what everyone is looking for as well as paying. Once I get some feedback I can see if this company is what we all need. They have told me they are willing to do a conference call to answer any questions anyone might have. I as well as probably most of you have a conference line we can use.

My goal is maybe to create some sort of a coop if anyone is interested. I think as a group we could have more buying dollars. We could rotate the leads that come in and get them at a great price. Im open to any suggestions anyone might have. Again this is not my area of expertise so im relying on the group for input.

 Adam

While going through the top traffic source page I see google (organic) and msn (organic) among the sources. What does organic mean?
 Thanks in advance

Organic means normal search listings you see. Opposite of that are paid listings or ads that are shown along with normal results.

Most counters allow you to use filters to exclude your visits but as most ISPs provide dynamic IPs, it won't be of much use. Just ignore it. I mean how many times per day do you access your site?

Thanks. I see your point. I open my site two or three times a day. When I upload a new page or edit an existing page I preview it. Perhaps these views do not make much difference. I was just wondering whether I could make the reports accurate. Sitemeter has an option for ignoring visits from a browser also and I make use of it. I think google analytics does not have this.

Thanks Edit for that info, I just signed up.
I just read over your website and noticed that in some places it doesn't mention the Level 3 commissions -you might want to update that.
