I'm studying the AdSense plan in Profit Lance. He talks about manually submitting your site to search engine friendly directories. But I'm not sure what the directory is or how to do it. I think its different than a search engine. I also see many sites out there offering to do this submission automatically, but PL recommends doing it manually over the course of a month. Can anyone point me in the right direction with this topic? Thanks.

Hi Randy,
Yahoo would be a good example of a valuable directory while Google would be a good example of a search engine.
The difference between a directory and a search engine is that though a directory has search capability - same as a search engine - it also has the added benefit of clickable categories for drilling down.
DMOZ aka ODP (Open Directory Project) is another example of a directory that can be found here:

You can do it manually or pay a company. I use directory maximizer: www.directorymaximizer.com , and you can select an option which will spread out the submissions over a week or a month, whichever you choose. Its best not to submit to many directories in one day, so spread them out as much as you can. If you want to do it yourself, here is a list of directories: http://www.directorymaximizer.com/seo-friendly-directories.php I'd stick to submitting them to directories with the highest pagerank!

Is it a good idea to submit to only high PR directories because I submitted to 100 and have only been listed in about 10. I read somewhere that the high pr directories have such a big backlog of entries that it takes ages to get through them all.
I was thinking it might be worth submitting to 0 pr directories in dm and wait for these to gain PR, at least I will have some backlinks then.
What do you think?

Hi Randy,
I'm in the process of submitting my site to directories and I found this site,
http://www.vmoptions.com/directory-list.php?sort=prdesc
to be very good. It has quality free directories that you can sort by page rank. I started with the PR6 site (there is only one) and worked my way down throught 5, 4, 3, and now I'm on the 2's.
I've been on some other sites, but the directories were hit and miss. Some were not free and others required a reciprocal link.
Good luck with it.
