I am not clear on the use of blogs entirely. Given how much time I am finding this takes, am I to create multiple blogs, or just one content rich blog per product? And is it okay to mirror that content on a different blog provider, or is this bad form?

I would create one per product. Do not add the same content to another blog. Each blog should have original content.

I am also wondering is there any real benefit to creating a blog if you have a website? I mean doesn't this mean you have to end up spending double time promoting? Both the blog and the site, rather than just the site? I am trying to figure out the best way to maximize the results of my time.
