I guess this is the place to announce this, google knol is now live and open to the public.

You can find it at knol.google.com

this can be used to create pages similar to squidoo.com, many people look at knol as a way for google to fight wikipeida.

 What do you guys think?

 Hi CashSurveysOnly,

Sure, I've heard that Knols are similar to Lenses and Hubs except that they have a more serious tone...kinda like Wikipedia. I'm also confident that they will get plenty of Google Juice considering they are owned by Google.

You're right about Wikipedia having a ton of PR. The individual pages have been ranking high for quite a while. It'll be interesting to find out how well the Knols perform.

At this point in time, they have more of a professional feel to them than Lenses or hubs. Doctors have written quite a few of them. Before creating or contributing to a Knol, make sure you read the TOS here:

 Looks like a nice site.

I wonder if they are affiliate link friendly - I didn't see anything about it in their TOS, but you never know...

 Hey Grip,

Give it a shot. What's the worst thing that can happen?

It looks like you have complete control of the page, just like squidoo.

No one can edit it your page unless you choose to allow the public to edit the pages.

Its kind of a mix between Wikipedia and squidoo.

 Lets see how it develops.

Thanks for the link. I am going to check them out now. I doubt they will have the flexibility of Squidoo in terms of affiliate links.

I think that you are able to put in affiliate links.

I have heard of some other people that made knols that ranked very well in the search engines, so I tried to make my own knol last week. I wasn't too sure about them being affiliate link friendly so I tried to add a lot of good content without trying to sell something and just casually added a link to my site at the end. It's been a week now and it's still not indexed in Google. Not sure if I did something wrong, or if Knol is having some problems....

Link to your knol 2 or 3 times and you will not only be indexed but you will have high ranking as well.

 Good Luck

 Thanks for the tip.
I have lenses and websites with lots of links to them, but I haven't tried linking to my knol yet. I'll try that and see if it helps.

I just had another look today and it is migrating away from the Wikipedia and professional feel to a near no standards feel.

Go ahead and make a Knol on almost anything you like. I doubt that certain topics will be allowed, but Google seems to have lowered the bar quite a bit lately.

Approval should be easy (subject to change).

Let us know if you create a Knol.

Yes, initially they were strict, now there are many low quality articles
