I've never tried it myself.
In the early days of the dot com craze when "good" domain names were easy to snap up, lots of people made money by sitting on domain names until they received offers to buy them. I wonder how lucrative parked domains could be today, now that most of the really attractive one- or two-word names have been taken.
It seems to me that only obscure, niche-specific names would be available and the wait for an offer to buy could be very long.
There are other disadvantages.
Because parked domains have no content, they are not indexed by search engines and can only be found by "type-in" traffic - the small percentage of people who type random keywords into the address bar and add .com or some other TLD.
Of course you can place links to ads on your parked domains and perhaps make a few dollars that way, but I think sales would be few and far between, because traffic would be erratic.

I've got some domains parked at sedo, but the reason I have them parked there is because they are for sale through sedo. I do make a little bit of money through the parking, but its not that much at all - maybe a few dollars per domain each month. These domains also had traffic coming into them prior to parking them, so if you don't have traffic coming into your domains, I don't think it is worth it to park them.
