is there a real way to make money online? I have been reading a bit online about trying to make money, and then comparing the sites to your reviews!! I am in serious financial trouble, looking for a day job, and still not getting hired. I have a business degree, and I'm either over qualified or under experienced. I am going to deliver pizzas tomorrow, it's gotten so bad, and i'm donating plasma this week.. So I am looking for a way to make money online, and all i can tell is that nothing really works. Is that true? What has worked for you guys? I have looked at a ton of websites that look good, but you guys say are total scams, and I soo appreciate the heads up.
I don't want fake ads for fake websites, either, Im too smart for that..( i have noticed some fake replies on other posts .....)

Delivering pizzas is not so bad.
I do that as a part time job but then I never had a degree in anything other than being a mom...
As far as to your question about making money online... it is absolutely possible to make money but it will not happen overnight. Most of us on the forum here are into affiliate marketing and we share a lot about that as there is definitely a learning curve to whole internet marketing thing...
The main learning curve on the whole deal is not so much in finding the right products to market as finding ways to get traffic to your website or blog or whatever method you choose to promote your stuff..
My computer is having attitude problems this morning and is so slow it is driving me nuts so I trust someone more eloquent than myself will stop by soon to add to this and I shall go see what my 'puter has to say about itself.... wish me luck with it and grace to not set it out on a stump and shoot it... it is one of those mornings...

Yes, you won't make money very quickly, so you need to have another income while you are building your business.
I am not there yet, but I do know quite a few people who are already successful with affiliate marketing - you just have to give it time and learn all the best techniques for online marketing.
Most of the time the reason people fail is not because of the program they join, but because they do not realise how much work is involved.
What works is learning and learning and learning, and not giving up until you start making money!

tmissmuse: I'm either over qualified or under experienced. The same stupid execuse to avoid paying you what you deserve. I learned something recently: jobs get created for you if you have connections even if you don't qualify. I couldn't get myself to a single interview when I need the job. Now, after I don't really need the job, I've got 3 job offers in two weeks through connections.
Anyway
This thread is about affiliate marketing (started by MountainMom5), I hope it helps.

Mountainmom5 is awesome, so do read that thread she started. That's the first thing. The second thing is, to not get discouraged. If you get started with this thing, it will require a lot of learning no matter if you choose affiliate marketing in the end, setting up your own ebay store, mlm, direct sales, whatever because, regardless of the route you start out on, things will likely be mostly new to you.
Yes, some stuff that you learned in business school about marketing (for instance) will come into play, but overall, you'll probably be dealing with a whole new animal.
And with things being new, there will be some learning of tools and a development of skills that needs to be done. In the process of doing that, it will be your side job to not give up too soon. Often people drop out before they've even really had a chance to see the fruit of their labour. Just like with real gardening, you have to nurture the endeavour, give it time, and stick to it.
The upside of delivering pizza is that you work for a pizza company. And if it's a chain, it's probably the case that you get free pizza. Free pizza means at least you don't go hungry in this recession (my sister worked for Dominos for a few years).

It sounds like you may need money in a hurry. If you do affiliate marketing may not be a good choice at this time. Maybe continue to earn money doing other jobs until you can research some more affiliate opportunities. It does take some time to set your business up but once you do you CAN make money doing this. I have but it does take commitment just like any other job. great success to you!

With your business degree is ther potential of creating a job for yourself either online or off?
With some research you may be able to find a product to develop or a service you can offer that is differnet or a new twist to an excisting one.

Hi tmissmuse,
Generally speaking:
- Study hard for several months to gain the proper theory. - Experiment for a few months afterward to gain experience. - Plan well so that you can execute with intelligence. - Observe and tweak to fine tune your implementation. - Toss in your changes and remove or improve failing elements.
Once you get around to creating your first site, focus on providing value to your readership. Give them what you would want if you were in their shoes.
Major tip: Don't focus on the money I.E. don't try to monetize too early and don't be money-driven. That's one of the most common mistakes of all.
Another common (and costly as well as frustration-generating) mistake is to blab about something your aren't passionate or even knowledgeable about. Make sure you know and like your topic.
That said, if you haven't taken the free 30 day challenge, consider doing so as one of your very first steps into the world of online marketing. You won't regret it and you'll get something of an idea of what it's all about.
Read from this forum and make money online sites.

Thanks mountainmom5. And you know what they say - when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I say, when life gives you pizza, eat it. I've worked at "sit down restaurants"... I've worked fast food too, and be it burgers, pizza, chicken sandwiches, or burittos, it can be easy to lose sight that 1) having this job doesn't mean you do "this" forever and that 2) there are the plus points of free food, helping people, etc.

tmissmuse,
The others have pretty well covered the internet affiliate marketing and the time + commitment required to make it work.
Another option is direct selling / network marketing. These give you a way to make immediate income from personal sales. For people with business degrees I usually recommend reading "The New Professionals" by Dr Charles King. It is a professional academic review of the industry. You can find it at most Borders or on Amazon.
No matter what direction you take there is going to be a learning curve, time and energy required to make it a success. Through hard work and persistence just about anything can be a profitable business.
Good Luck

Well I've been looking on the internet for a workable opportunity.I have purchased sooo many manuals, courses. so 'called business's' nothing has poven to work.
I'm also studying affiliate markerting seems like the only legitimate opportunity available. Though it is slow going it does provide results.
There is a wealth of information available on the internet on how to get started.
'SUCCESS COMES TO THOSE WHO BELEIVE IN THE BEAUTY OF THEIR DREAMS'
Best of luck.

A mentor that I have cleaned houses while she built her at home business -- she is now making 7-figures; so YES, it is possible! There is a learning curve so if you are serious then get in with a STRONG team of people with lots of tools and expertise to speed that process....I work with a company that offers free leads and does TV advertising so I don't pay for either of those business expenses. Each person is individual so you have to find what is right for you...What kind of research have you been doing?

What I keep reminding myself is that this is a business. And they take time to learn, understand and then become successful at. Business or job, doesn't matter, they both take time and commitment. The first two months I was in this market I kept forgetting that and focusing on the money. I am serious about making a change for myself, so pizza delivery, cleaning houses, temping or whatever. It doesn't matter to me because I know that within a year, I will be looking back and laughing at how much I cared about what other people thought and happy that I did whatever I needed to. It really is worth all the headaches.

You gotta do what you gotta do! I have been there! You musn't worry about 'what others think'...I admire your strength and persistence, for the record! You have what it takes to be successful. I have found that if I concentrate on helping others in my business then the money comes If u need help finding a business or a job from home, let me know...That's how I started -- first doing odd jobs from home then I moved part-time into my current biz, then full-time. I'm happy to help

I am sorry to hear you are in financial difficulty. You can make money online but there is a learning curve. You have a business degree, so you have what it takes to learn. You will have to learn to market a product whatever it is. You need the very best mentor and training and it all has to do with traffic. Some people promise overnight success. No way. We all know success is the journey. I know this may not help much but keep your spirits up and you will make it. I have read some of Dr Wayne Dyers' books ie "Real Magic and "Your erroneous zones". They may give you some hope that all is achiveable. Good luck and never, never , never give up...EVER

I was laid off the first of June so I know how you feel. I am a risk taker. I decided to put in 12 hour days here on the computer and I have managed to pay my rent and utility bills, but nothing extra for me. But that is a big accomplishment. I do other things like catering lunches, house cleaning to supplement, but most of my time is here.
Fit2prosper said above: I have found that if I concentrate on helping others in my business then the money comes
That is true. I now have another small job writing content for a website about my niche. I have been contacted by a promenant writer to help her (with pay). This all happened because I was helping others.
The doors are opening all around me and I am blessed, not rich, just blessed. Find something you love and turn it into a way to help others and make money. Its so much easier if you like what you do. Sometimes I realize it is 8 at night and I have not even eaten.

The best thing that you can do to ensure that you make money online is to make sure that you do your research upfront. This might mean a couple of 18 hour days behind the screen to make sure that you have exhausted all of the resources/options, but it will be worth it in the long run when you are able to start with a viable system and then expand it to fit your needs. There are a ton of free or "money back" systems out there. Use them to your advantage to start and then expand.

I would have to agree with thebart. I started out with many hours of researching information online, which led me to a few systems I purchased inexpensively - this helped me tremendously. I know there are a lot of people out there who advise against buying programs - I am not one of them. I researched affiliate marketing online and found great advice, tips and instruction, but when it came down to it - I was still a little lost and confused as to how to put it all together. I was lucky in that I found a couple of systems that helped me and guided me step by step in how to start, what to do and how to keep going with an action plan. Some of them really do work and can help you become successful. Sure, they will make a little money off of you, but in the end isn't good instruction worth paying for? The trick is to find the successful programs....so do your research! Look for good "money back guarantees", there are also programs that offer free instruction to get you started before ever paying them a dime. This way you know it works. Just be sure and do your homework.

Well in my opinion Afflilate marketing is the best way to make money online. Do you have a web site set up. I would write as many articles as possible and direct them to your website. It will take time to develop everything, but your hard work will eventually pay off.

Hi,
If I wanted to make quick money I would create a blog in a good niche, put Google Adsense on it, write twenty articles and submit them to Ezinearticles.com.
With this strategy you can earn a few extra bucks each month.

Hi Jay,
Adsense is largely a thing of the past unless you have heavy traffic. In the past it was a great way to make easy money online, but not any more for the most part.
To make it work, it has to be your main play. You have to understand your audience well. You have to have a ton of traffic.
Else, it won't work well enough to mention.
Affiliate marketing is largely where it's at unless like I said, there has to be good reason to make Adsense your main play.
It can happen, make no mistake about it. But, you have to know what you are doing. Same is true about the opposite play - Adwords aka PPC.
My suggestion is to pick a topic where folks won't be quite as interested in clicking your would-be affiliate links. Think of a site where visitors are strictly looking for info rather than being in "buy mode".
Second bit is your site has to have great info.
Third bit is your site absolutely must have high traffic.
It helps tremendously if you have been providing valuable content for free.
Waste your time at your own expense. It's entirely up to you. I just know what works and what does not work.
Good luck,

Hi tmissmuse, hope that things are going better. I agree with writerros, you are going to have to learn more about network marketing and affiliate marketing. While your are doing this have a job is a great idea. Selling your plasma is a bold move, and I feel for you my sister. One of the keys to your success after you have learned a few things is to take action. If you don't, you will be constantly learning but never applying that which you've learned. Please take advantage of some of the associated free trial offers. They're free. If you decide to cancel, and that's okay, think of the knowledge you will have gained. Stay encouraged, you can make it!

mountainmom5: LOL - love the visual. *giggle* Ditto.... and such a fitting visualization too, because it's so easy to get off running and building momentum in the absolute wrong direction due to the money blindness. But that's life - anxiety, the lure of winning when gambling, love... are also blinding and dangerous at times .
Not that I meant to equate those things or anything, only drawing a parallel to show how emotions often cloud judgment, and joblessness/debt surely has the power to trigger "clouding emotions".
