Hi,

Does anyone know of data entry or any such jobs that I can do from home, which do no charge prior to starting work. Would appreciate if you let me know.

Thank you
Usha

Usha,
Most of the people here are just looking to make money off of you through referrals and commissions they will get if you sign up with something through them. Don;t trust a lot of sites on the internet that offer to pay you enough to live on. Some of these sites are legitimate but many more are scams that just want your money or have a minor detail somewhere written very small in the fine print that will make it difficult if not impossible to earn money. I however have created a website of my own where i have tested many sites that offer payment, many of which being survey sites. I have written reviews and have personally gotten paid from these sites. Sure this won;t be enough to live on but it can give you extra spending money each week that can help making ends meet a little easier.

the link to my site is below...

The simple fact is that there is lot of competition for such jobs than you must have imagined. There may be thousands of applicants competing for such positions. Who wouldn't want to make easy money by just typing at home in their free time?

You have 2 options to make money from home (apart from the prospect of starting your own business - mlm, etc.)

1) Identify your strengths and contact companies directly to see if they have a position wherein you can work from home? Or for those who may have an existing job, check with your employer to see if you can telecommute (of course, this is possible with only select job types).

2) Try freelancing. On sites like like guru.com/elance.com the competition may be high so you may also want to check out on smaller freelance websites.

Like you can see, both the options are not easy and you have to work just as hard as you would do to get an ordinary job. What's really important is what drives you. If the motivation to work from home is great enough, then there is nothing you can't achieve. However, if you are just looking to see if there's any job you can do part-time, then I don't think you'll ever find one.

Here are some sites that caught my interest:

I found this resource which has a pretty decent listing of companies who hire home workers:
http://www.worldwideworkathome.com/work-at-home.html

I checked out some of them and the only drawback I could see was that majority of the companies targeted only US citizens. Apart from that, the resource is worth checking out.

Also I know a lot of people that have had success with
Guru.com
I know of a few people that have bid for jobs there and are making a lot of money from it.

Quite a few companies now offer Data Entry programs where you can supposedly work from home.
Most data entry opportunities are not really about data entry, but about writing online ads.
