Here are some important things to consider to keep yourself fit and healthy when working at home:

* Regular exercise. Job commuters get atleast some exercise in the form of walking. With no commuting, work at homers should do a bit extra to make up for this lost activity.

* Exposure to sunlight. We all need atleast 15-30 minutes of exposure to sunlight daily. Job commuters often get some exposure when they commute to their offices during day time. Working at home deprives us of this critical element as most of the time (when the sun is out) we will be working inside and when we actually move out, the sun is down.

If you feel lethargic, your body is cold most of the times, and you suffer from insomnia, you definitely need to get some sun.

More info about health benefits of sunlight at:

* Meditate. Having a day job provides an opportunity for us to switch our mindset once we leave our offices. Working at home though can keep you occupied with your work thoughts even though you are physically not working. If the pattern is continued, it can seriously affect your performance and health. Meditation helps reduces stress, clears the mind of unwanted static, and provides a feeling of well-being that provides a natural "high".

* Take breaks. Working for long periods in vicinity of electro-magnetic equipments like computers can drain us physically and mentally. Taking frequent breaks, meditating and being close to nature helps us recharge our mind and body.

Hi Vishal,
I take a break about every hour or so. Usually, the break is just long enough to stretch, get a glass of water, let the dogs out etc. I also do a mile or two on the exercise bike or go for a walk around the block to get the blood pumping again.
It is very important to make sure your computer and home office are ergonomically efficient, to prevent injery and discomfort at your work station. You should be able to look into your computer screen without tipping your head up or down. This will prevent stress on your head and neck, and prevent neck and head pain. I also have a pad right next to my keyboard that supports my hands and wrist while I type, and prevents wrist, finger and hand problems.
Most towns have physical therapists or ergonomics experts that can help you determine whether your work station is comfortable and healthy for your body.

Many of us that find ourselves at the computer for work purposes also find ourselves snacking constantly. A diet I have printed out and hanging on my office wall lists foods that support metabolism and suggest several activities that can be done from time to time to improve cardio-vascular health. since the two are so closely related. it is necessary to have such a program in place to maintain health and well-being. I never thought about meditation but I know it's benefits as a stress reliever. I will definately start using meditation more in my daily regimen. Because of the position that the body is placed in when working in front of a computer daily it is also necessary to have an extra dose of some form of dietary fiber to aid in the digestive regulation of bowel movements. As the particular diet foods and drinks that I utilize won't work for everyone due to taste, allergies, diebetes, etc. it is necessary for you to research your own foods to snack on, drinks to keep on hand and exercise regimen to suit your needs and taste as well as meditation to relieve stress and help you relax... both physically and mentally. Contrary to popular belief... water is not a good thing to drink a lot of while at a computer. It can lead to such serious adverse health conditions as inflamitus, stiffening of the joints(which can later lead to arthritis), bloating as well as later problems with urinary tract health. You should drink juices that contain amino and/or citric acids. You should also take liquid mineral supplements of some kind on a daily basis to promote the natural electrical activity of the central nervous system.

Meditation also helps to gain focus and to have concetration when performing a task. Its also critical for your personal development. Lack of meditation brings anxiety, anger, lack of self-control and lack of confidence.

I have found that herbal supplements have worked best for my case. A key element was the service and follow-up was done by a professional who later became my upline. So it is important to get the proper supplements for your diet. For instance many people believe just taking vitamins from the local drug-store is enough to boost their health status. Without the proper nutrients none of the supplements will ever work. And without the necessary service in place even the best products do little.
