Hello to all my forum compadres. I haven't been in here much in the past few weeks. My life has literally been on hold as my Mom has been battling some serious heart issues, and some other medical problems. My wife and I ended up going to Texas last week to see her and My Dad. She had an operative procedure done today that was successful and should straighten out her heart problems. Along with that there has just been a lot going on in our world, here. I don't know why I am posting about this, other than to say I realize I have not contributed much in here for the past few weeks. I have not been myself, and with all that was going on, well, I didn't have much to offer. I have really been drained, emotionally and physically. So, what does this have to do with MLM or Home Business? Well, for me, it put things into perspective.
You see, life is short, very short. It's much too short to lose sight of the important things, like family, friendships, even our goals and dreams. It's much too short to spend complaining, whining, worrying, things I had been doing far too much of, recently. We spend a lot of time in MLM, even in forums like this one, talking about the negative. We lament over things that hinder our success, people who just don't get it, who can't see or won't see the power of the opportunity we are putting in front of them. We discuss all the negative press our industry gets from people on the outside who, quite frankly, don't know what they are talking about. And we complain about how it affects our conversations with prospects. We gripe about success not coming quickly enough to suit us, when all along the greatest gift of all has been given to us, for free! That gift is life. And that life is very short.
We have so much to be thankful for. I know I do. No, I am not making as much money as I would like, my business is not growing as fast as I would like it to, and even if it were, I would just want it to grow even faster. It's amazing what things we allow to upset our apple cart, things that when put into proper perspective when we or a loved one becomes ill, or worse, really don't matter. I'm not saying our dreams and our goals are not worthy of our commitment, our determination and effort. I'm not saying that the obstacles in our way are not real. I'm just saying that we need balance. That balance for me comes in the form of my wife, family and friends, my church, my faith, and yes, my life. If we lose balance we lose perspective. If we lose perspective we are lost, adrift in a sea of confusion and uncertainty, like a ship with no rudder. If we lose balance it will affect every thing in our life. Nothing will be truly right, for us, unless that balance is restored.
I apologize if this is a bit too metaphysical, but I do believe it is important. Maybe it will help someone else who is going through a crisis of balance, of perspective. If you have lost sight of what is really important in life, my suggestion is to take the time to get alone with yourself, take time out to be thankful for the incredible gift of life you have been given. Find that center, find that balance and let it put everything else back into perspective. It will, if you will let it, I promise you. It did, for me. Now I can get back to work, to the business of growing a successful organization that will change my life and the lives of those who will come along. I can focus on my dreams and goals with much more clarity of vision and I can work toward them with much more commitment and determination. Yes my friends, life is short. So live it.

Sorry to hear about your mom...hopefully she will get better. Great post though - in the blink of an eye, everything can be taken from you - its important to appreciate the good things in life, and not stress out so much on the bad things or when things don't go our way. Its amazing how agitated we can get when someone cuts off in traffic, but there are people in this world wondering where their next meal is going to come from - it really puts things into perspective when we think about these things. So, keep on striving for your goals, but when things aren't so great, think about the gifts in life you have been given, and strive to do your best with what you've got.

getagrip: but there are people in this world wondering where their next meal is going to come from Wow! What an incredible response, and what insight. I know when I am tempted to fly off the handle at someone who has "flipped me off" or yelled at me, responded with venom at something I may have said, you get the picture. When I am tempted to return venom for venom, it helps to stop and realize that this person may be going through some terrible crisis, some internal "Hell" that has clouded their reason and caused them to lash out, like that. You never know what other people are dealing with, internally. So, if we can learn to refuse that first instinct to strike back and chose to return grace for venom, instead, perhaps we can make a difference in their life, as well as find a little more peace in ours. Food for thought, anyway.

That's funny that this subject came up just today. I have just gotten home from a family gathering. One of my uncles was there who just two months ago had one of his lungs removed and he is on oxygen for part of the time.
When I hugged him goodby he said to make sure to do the fun and good things while I am still able, don't put things off. I was thinking about that all the way home, about how I can complain and whine about things that are so petty when compared to only having one lung.
So I got a little wake up at the family gathering and then I come to the forum and this post is here. I am going to really be working on myself about this.
Thanks for the post.
Becky

Often we take things for granted, life is too short to waste being unhappy.

We all lose sight of just how precious our time on this planet is at some point. Why does it take a crisis in one form or another to remind us of that.
Well, I guess we don't need to experience that crisis as a reminder do we. Just reading Mitch's post has placed my live and my goals into perspective.
All the Best Mitch and remember there is always light at the end of the longest, deepest tunnel.

This hits on one of my greatest fears, and that is the fear of getting to the end of my life and then facing the startling realization that I didn't have the right priorities.
