Hi DealRocker,

Just Google your questions the way you have worded them above.

Use phrases such as top article directory, best article directories, etc...

If you need a niche directory, just add a niche phrase before the word directory. For example, for rock 'n roll, just type "rock 'n roll directory".

For good general article directories, you can start with EzineArticles and GoArticles. Give Squidoo a try.

If you'd like to get your blog indexed, try Technorati.

Yes you may find them in search results. You may also get such lists from forums like digital point. Hope, you would share it if you get some best ones

For the directories you do find, you can get an idea of the page rank of the directory by downloading a copy of the Google Toolbar. After you have downloaded it, you will need to adjust your settings to show page rank.

Hi ToneWorker,

Few will ever get into DMOZ - especially within the first year.

I refer to StrongestLinks.com. It lists directories, their PR, Alexa rank, cost, etc. They seem to keep it pretty well updated.

They also have a regional or subject-specific directory, which I recommend reviewing because if your site fits into a specific subject category or you are in a region covered by a region-specific directory, those are sometimes the best places to get listed.

All the Best,

Mark

One more point - Try to submit to add into directories who have good PR and good value to the end user. A Directory submission should not be only for SEO purpose.
Yesterday I read an article in seomoz about this.

In my opinion niche directories are more useful than that of general directories. Try to submit your site in niche directories.

I agree. Although some niches don't have directories related to them. Still, you can usually go for a somewhat relevant niche directory instead.

Whatever you do, please do not use shady link farm websites for free link exchange. They have no pr value and google might slap and unindex your website.

While before it was useful to have link exchanges to rank on google, now it will only ruin your ranking because so many people abused it back in the day.

Instead of link exchange, focus on quality one way backlinks.

Getting other "good" websites to link to yours usually helps your website's PageRank and ranking on Google.

Note: If your site links to delisted websites, your website might also be removed from Google's index.

This is great tool that I have been using. Works great and always gives wonders. You can also get other not-so-popular site that can easily get high ranks in Google.
