I guess I should first say hey. I just found you guys and I look forward to reading through the forum and learning all I can about working at home. I have been doing it for over 11 years now and one of the reasons I have been able to do it is because I am always learning something new. I love networking with people such as you.

to the title of my post, course I wasn't born yet. But as with any new multilevel marketing company the best time to get in is when it is first born, would you agree?

If it is something hot enough and know one knows about it, but you are fortunate enough to spread the news to enough of the right people you could become very wealthy over night. That's whats so great about the Internet in my opinion. Hundreds of millionaires are being born every day on it.

all for now. Hope to hear a hey from you all. And I look forward to contributing to this community and learning as much as I can from all of you.

I think you have the right idea. I saw a sales pitch from a MLM company that was using the fact that they have been in business for over 20 years as a plus. That might be a plus for a traditional business that you're looking at buying something from, but all this company was telling me was that the market for their product was probably already saturated and it would be hard to make money with it.

I would look for one that is not a household name in the MLM community and that maybe you are not familiar with. Oh, and also something you're interested in.

I don't think anybody should get into a MLM company with the thought that success will come because the company is new or the company is bringing something new to the market.

No matter how old companies like Amway are, there will always be a small number of people that join Amway every year that will go on to have great success.

But as most here will know, the failure rate in MLM is about 98%. Only the top 1 or 2% of any of these companies make a full time income.

These same people that fail in Amway will likely fail in a new MLM too. Why? Well, it is often not the product alone that creates success, but rather whether the distributor has the skills necessary to effectively market the company online and offline.

And unless you are exceptional or have the necessary skills, you will NOT succeed by having home parties and hotel meetings.

Look at newer companies like Xango and Agel. They were first to market with their products and both companies have some exceptionally successful distributors. But the facts kick in and the majority of those that joined Xango and Agel at the beginning (or now), did not make any significant income. Yes, there were a few that did - but this dismal statistic is just a fact in MLM.

One needs to know how to effectively market online in order to succeed with any of these companies. Can anyone succeed online? Absolutely - but reality is that only a few will do so.

And if one learns effective online techniques and strategies, you are more likely to be one of the few that hits success.

Well said Joan. Also you have to consider if a newer company will even be around in a couple years. A good number of them fail. I would stick with a solid company versus jumping on the new big thing. Would hate to build a business and watch in crumble because the company ran it into the ground.

Some of the top companies are NOT household names yet despite being around for many years, sometimes decades. Older companies continue to reinvent themselves and stay current with new products. I think there is always potential for new distributors in many of the well-established companies. I agree that new companies can be risky because I high percentage fail within 5 years.

I believe that there is potential in any product....if the person knows how to effectively market it and reach the target audience.

I did Amway about 20 years ago... for a few months.

Have tried a variety of mlms since and yes, they DO work, if you WORK your tail off.... just as in anything else that is successful.

I personally think it is not so much in what the product is or if the company has been around for awhile but in your OWN personality, your ability to believe in your opportunity or the product and then your ABILITY to convince others of whatever it is you believe in.

I am not good in any of the above except the believing part - lol
