I guess a general definition of what Attraction Marketing is could be: To give more in use value than expected in cash value by participating in social networking sites and utilizing different web 2.0 techniques such as videos.

I find that this way of marketing keeps you from having to spend money on advertising but what you really end up doing is spending your quality time. I have found it to be effective for myself since I didn't have money to invest into advertising. And have found it rewarding as well.

I was wondering what everyone thought about Attraction Marketing and if they thought it was the best route to go if they didn't want to spend money advertising. Are there any other routes you would suggest?

Breanne - This is an excellent description of Attraction Marketing Breanne. Great! Attraction Marketing, as a phrase, has been hijacked by some groups that say you attract with Google adwords. That is NOT attraction Marketing. That is Pay Per Click marketing....LOL.

But I digress.

Anyway, I am just happy that I am not the only person out there that believes attraction marketing is the only authentic way to do business.

Thanks for your post.

Attraction marketing is a good way of building up a relationship before they actually contact you. I think the important thing here is to offer info and advice for nothing and not theme it expecting something back. People will not feel pressured.

If used properly you will end up attracting like minded people, and if you are in the right mind-frame to start with, it will serve you well.

I am planning to use this as well (when someone invents a 28 hour day and I have enough time to do the production)

You are talking about Web 2.0 instead of Attraction Marketing. Applying Web 2.0 is time consuming and you end up spending your quality time.

Being able to apply attraction marketing and really attract quality people to you is what makes you the money and in doing so I don't see why one wouldn't want to pursue this over time.

That's what we're all here for right?

I guess I was maybe not clear enough when I said quality time. What I mean is when you are working online in different web2.0 sites or other places that you spend your focused time. By quality I mean not wasted time or time unproductive. If you are really spending quality time when you are working you will get more done and it will be more effective for you. I didn't mean to make it sound like it takes up a majority of my time or even a lot of hours. I just mean that when I am doing it I am focused and driven on being productive.

I just meant as well that you don't ever really get something for nothing, some people choose to spend money in advertising and I have chose to spend time in networking. Neither is really wrong, it just depends what works best for the individual. Some people do both.

Obviously content is king and the formula should be: underpromise and overproduce.

In my experience a lot of the Web 2.0 methods that are hyped up, particularly social networking, are pretty much a waste of time compared with other older internet marketing methods.

I am not saying that social networking does not have potential - just that its a very haphazzard and time-consuming way to find customers.

I am not ignorant on this subject - I make hot looking videos and I have them all over the video sharing sites. I have active profiles on a done social networking sites and 1000s of "friends".

Its just really time consuming to do this stuff.

If you want traffic to a website that tells visitors why they should STOP what they are doing, READ what you have to say, and do some BUSINESS with you TODAY - which is the only type of site that
can reliably put money in your pocket - well in that case there are other ways to drive traffic - for those who take the time to learn how.

Personally I use Search Engine Optimization skills to get traffic. I learned how to do this at Veretekk. Once I have the traffic I use my writing skills to convert the traffic into customers.

Web 2.0 is more than just attraction marketing. Knowing how to properly market yourself via blogging, social bookmarking, article marketing, and a good SEO practices is really the key to building an the Internet business quickly and for long term traffic too.

I understand the importance of social networking, but from a traffic standpoint, you can build any business quicker just through sheer numbers than you can in establishing relationships on a one-on-one basis.

Web 2.0 platforms are very important as part of any marketing plan.

Each platform takes a little while to understand and set up, but it's well worth the time spent.

Some of the typical platforms are blogs, squidoo, hub pages, and social bookmarking sites such as delicious, stumbleupon, and digg.

Hi there,

Using web 2.0 to brand yourself as a leader and an expert in your field is what attraction marketing is all about.

But you really should in fact be a leader and an expert in your field and not just fool people into thinking you are.

Web 2.0 exposes frauds in a hurry. Nobody can hide for long. And, thanks to it, people are getting educated now.

The idea is attraction marketing is supposed to generate "hot" prospects for your business by influencing them to look at your business throughout the free mentoring process.

The reasoning goes, "If I can make myself more valuable to others, then I will gain more traffic to my website that I can then convert." So you go to great lengths to get your name out there, to become more popular within the right social circles.

The end goal is to convert more prospects into customers or distributors for your business. Branding yourself is absolutely crucial to that end. You must make sure people get to know you, like you and trust you.

Your chances of success are next to nil if you do not have a naturally charismatic personality along with good writing skills. That's not to say you can't brand yourself; you'll have a more difficult time at it, that's all.

Implementing the means to achieve that end requires lots of your time and patience. First, you must yourself learn how to use and teach web 2.0 effectively. You can learn it on your own if you are computer savvy.

Or you can cut your learning curve down to a minimum by finding somebody who's already teaching the skills for free or at very low cost. But why pay for something if you don't need to.

There are plenty of mentors on the internet now who are offering free web 2.0 training these days. Keep in mind they are doing it as a way to influence you to check out their programs.

Don't be surprised if, after some time, they stop mentoring you. If you don't show any promise of joining their MLM(s), the majority of them will drop you like a dead horse.

They say they don't have an agenda; that they sincerely only want to help you learn how to generate traffic for your program. Take them for their word and hold them to it. The proof is in the pudding, as they say.

If you don't already have a program of your own, watch out. Be very careful about joining anybody's program just because they helped you learn a few web 2.0 techniques. You must still do your due diligence on any offer you come across.

Before signing anything, ask to see the policies and procedures. If there is any dancing around or beating around the bush, be on guard.

If the policies and procedures are not easily found on the website, it's a red flag. If there are more than five pages, run. Ours has only 3 pages. Most have anywhere between 30 and 100. Avoid those altogether!

If you find any deceit, manipulation and lies, thank the person who gave you their time and run out of there. Nothing will kill your chances at success faster than following someone with a lack of integrity or transparency.

I recently watched a series of videos by a number of people involved in the same attraction marketing group. Right smack in the middle of it, the video cuts to a silent picture of a half naked girl.

"That's interesting!" I thought. "Why is that there?"

I asked my wife Rayvin. She told me it must be there because that's the picture they choose to have for their still. It's the picture you will see advertising the video.

A half naked girl has absolutely nothing to do with the content of the video but it sure attracts alot of visitors! Clever but I wouldn't sink that low.

You lose credibility with your more serious entrepreneurs. If you need to use sex to attract people to your content, all your efforts to teach others to act with integrity is in vain.

You lose more than you gain with that kind of thing. It's not very respectful to women. My wife was fuming when I showed her this.

Nuff said on that.

I could go on . . . but I think I've said what I wanted.

Peace
Rob Nyte

Interesting!

Oh boy...do I ever know what you are talking about! I saw many MLM Goldminers doing it in late 2006 and 2007. Steve Schuitt was the king of the "spicey" thumbnail.

If you don't know him...he was one of the finalist on The Next Internet Millionaire on television last year.

So since I was studying under him and the GREAT Dennis Karganilla, I figured it must work and I even tried it a time or two. I got lots of negative comments and I chalked it up to a fun lesson learned.

I must say though...those videos got 10X more views. But since I track my traffic very closely I quickly realized the flaw in the thinking. That traffic rarely converts.

Every now and then a smart and experienced entrepreneur would be cruising around youtube checking out videos with half naked women as the thumbnail. They usually would send me flaming messages. I am not sure what they were more upset about....I mean THEY CLICKED ON THE DARN THING!!!

I felt like I should apologize for not having what they were looking for in the video except for the 3 second thumbnail! I mean when you think about it...it's sort of funny that they got so upset and actually had the nerve to write me about it! Guess they didn't think it out very well.

But yeah...take it from me. That stuff is UNNECESSARY!

Breanne, the call you did last week for The All 4 One Mastermind was AMAZING!

You are such an incredible mentor! Thank you for leading the way for the rest of us!

Hi Danny,

We all make errors in judgement from time to time. Yours isn't really that serious.

I respect you for scrapping the use of the ""spicey" thumbnail" to attract attention to your videos. You learned you didn't need to resort to that. Good for you.

Your friend,
Rob Nyte

Breanne Joseph, I don't think you realize how much you are helping people.

So thank you!

Hi Breanne,

Attraction marketing is the best way to go for me, because the majority of prospects who contact me are already frustrated with chasing prospects down and getting rejected. As a result I introduce them to my free marketing methods, training, tutorials, etc. and the marketing itself sells them on my opportunity. I know I tried both ways and attraction marketing is something I would never trade for the old school stuff.

Great topic, thanks.

Hi Breanne,

I just wanted to follow up and say how enjoyable it is to see these frustrated marketers become empowered with an attraction marketing system. The difference is like night at day between chasing prospects and being chased by people who want to learn how to market online. It is just the inevitable trend that is taking place. More and more people want to be in a position of empowerment.

Thanks again, I really like your posts!

Thank you for that. It really means a lot. Attraction marketing is definitely one of my passions and I love being able to share it with people because of all the value it has to offer. There is nothing like showing someone else how to be successful and like you said to put them in a position of empowerment.

Hi Breanne,

Here is one for you. How about the difference in the way the two marketing models feel for the marketer. You know, the traditional hard sell methods and the ensuing feelings, compared to the relaxation of the attraction marketing. I know people are different so I can only speak for myself. I much prefer to have people call me, knowing full well that I have a marketing system that can bring them traffic, so they need what I have to offer. That position is far more enjoyable for me than chasing anything. I don't like how it feels to chase anything including prospects. Put another way, it feels good to be attactive and pursued, rather than needy and wanting. You get it, thanks for the posts, they are always great.

Keep On Marketing

Attraction marketing, is Breanne! Am i the only one in here who thinks she's HOT? Ok, Branne, i know that was probably NOT what you intended when you posted, but it does prove a point. If a woman is attractive, men will be attracted to her. Same is true vice versa. My point is, if we are attractive as an industry, prospects will be attracted to it. If we are attractive as a marketer, prospects will be attracted to us. It's not your "best ever most superfantastic revolutionary" product, nor is it your "highly profitable, patented, unbelievable and nobody else's comes close" compensation plan that people want to join. It's you, Plain and simple.

How does one become attractive. Lots of good ideas have bee thrown around in here and other forums. To me it all boils down to a couple of things.

1. Integrity - do you come accross as someone who is sincere? Are you being honest, being yourself with your prospects, or are you trying to come off as something you are not? Do you tell the truth about you and your business, etc.

2. Branding - People are naturally attracted to a leader, and Alpha, an expert, say it however you will, and they will follow him or her. Are you a leader, do you have value to offer to people that can make their lives better. Are you a Network Influencer?

Some of us are naturally gifted leaders, some are not. Leadership traits can be learned. It takes practice, but you can learn to lead. Integrity is about who you are on the inside. I suppose a person can change a character trait, with vigillance and effort, but it's not easy, and there are lot of cheesy people associated with network marketing, especially online, where you can hide behind a computer.

So, there's my two cents worth, my appologies Breanne, for the opening, a little shock effect, you know.

Thanks PMHayes for the compliment. You are very right that I was not going there when I posted this. LOL

Being an attractive person is not hard to do. Like you said it is the personality that comes through with integrity. To be the most attractive you really need to just be yourself so that people can get to know the real you. Brand yourself as the real you. You never want to fake it till you make it and you should never want to fake it at all. When you brand yourself online, you are stepping into a leadership role and that is what will help you gain success online. It may be uncomfortable for some people in the beginning like it was for me, but I would definitely suggest to anyone to step out of their comfort zones and take some risks. That has made a huge difference in my business and life.

This is an interesting thread with very well-articulated points of view. As I followed the discussion, I wondered how many online marketers are getting caught up with attraction marketing as the next breakthrough, and are really missing the point.

The attraction marketing description tends to be used, almost exclusively, in conjunction with social networking and video-heavy sites which comprise the so-called Web 2.0 phenomenon. But in a broad sense, one could accurately apply the "attraction marketing" tag to ANY form of marketing that delivers.

If you use SEO, PPC, write articles or post in forums, the aim is to attract a particular type of prospect. The catalyst will be the value of your forum posts, the style and usefulness of your articles, the appearance and usability of your website, and the many other subliminal elements that you include in your marketing campaigns to attract customers.

These soft sell tactics help you to establish trust and credibility, which puts prospects at ease and influences them to do business with you. The relationships that evolve can be mutually beneficial for years.

Isn't that what we are all striving for anyway?

My point is that EVERY form of marketing needs to contain an attraction element if it is to be effective, and we shouldn't overlook that fact amidst the hysteria created by this latest label.

Hermas

A8ch you hit the nail right on the head. I am sure that there are some people that just throw the name around using it like you were talking about. But those who truly understand the meaning of the way an Attraction Marketer does things is a little different. The attraction is in all elements that you put out on the web and in the relationships you build. Also the way an Attraction Marketer thinks carries into their everyday lives and not just the business. Not to say that other ways are wrong, but for me after I learned about Law of Attraction and started implementing the mindset into my business is when I learned about Attraction Marketing, and have enjoyed building my business much more ever sense.

I was about to give up at online network marketing until I found the program I now use. It has helped me tremendously!!! Attraction marketing is not only worth the time, it's absolutely essential to make it online, that's my opinion!! It's the only thing that's helped me. When you have a program that teaches you step by step, even using videos, it's very easy to succeed!!! Even for complete newbies !!

Good points Hermas. I think we can even take this a step further. Attraction marketing doesn't stop once the prospect joins your business. In fact, it's just the beginning. I liken it unto a marriage. I didn't stop courting my wife when we got married, and i still continue to do so to this day! We go on dates, i buy her flowers, I exercise and try to stay fit, I don't dress like a slob around the house, etc. Point is, I continue to try to make myself attractive to her. It's no different in business, really. Your comment on relationships for years to come is just my point, here.

And that brings me to another equally important point. I don't just want anyone and everyone in my company. I won't turn anyone down, of course, but i focus on the ones who really want it, who follow each and every bit of advice I give them, who listen to me, learn from me, follow me, and duplicate what I do. In short, I focus on the Doers, not the talkers. Now, I don't ignore the others, but i reserve my best for the best, my time, my energy, my knowledge, and so forth. And, by the best, i don't mean the ones with the most money. I started this thing on a shoestring budget, but i had heart, desire, and i worked my you know what off! I stayed (and still do) in constant contact with my upline, soaked up everything they had to teach me, and i followed the plan.

That's what i mean by my best for the best. I don't expect people to do any more than i do, but I darn sure don't expect less! Relationships, that's what this business, truthfully any business, is all about!
