Article marketing is a great way to get traffic to your site and get back links at the same time. The king of article marketing is Travis Sago he has a free download on his site if you google Travis you are sure to find him. He's a really nice guy too. Also called bum marketing.

I'm sure there may be other free ways, but I don't know them. I chose article marketing it seems to fit with what I want to do and it does work.

Yup, it sure does! Here's a trick, though to help you with that...

1) choose a keyword phrase or search for on with the free seobook tool...

2)set up a blog or Squidoo lens with that exact same keyword phrase

3) write a few articles with the very same keyword phrase and link back to your blog with the article

4)from your blog you can then link to all kinds of websites, or pages. Some article directories won't let you link to a squeeze page or landing page so if you have something like that you will want to set up a blog first and use that as a hub - actually you can also use hubpages for that.

These are all free sites so have fun with it!

Obviously, article marketing works but when you have something different and new. Other than you will get the back link, as per my experience article submission is one of the effective seo technique.

Article marketing will work. As most poeple are looking for info on the net, if you are providing good info. People will take a look on your article and will look at your resource box.

Article marketing does indeed work but you have to write about something people are interested in and you have to do keyword reasearch when deciding on a title.

I've had a badly named/written/researched article get only about 20 hits/visitors after a few months and another one that got 8,000 hits on the same platform in about the same time period.

Hi Lathalukose,

Article marketing is a mainstay for serious online marketers.

I agree with the above comments.

Furthermore it helps create authority provided your articles are well-written and useful. If you do well, readers will actually check to see if you have any new articles. You can create a following on article sites :)

As suggested, you get back links either directly to your main site or as Mountain depicted (good one Mountain), indirectly via funnel or webbed structure.

On top of that, you can get syndicated and inherit several back links from a single article.

Sonni suggested a good free learning source - Bum Marketing - if you are interested and currently know very little about article marketing.

Don't forget to take the free 30 Day Challenge :)

Good luck,

Article marketing is by far one of the most used and in being so widely used, I have to say it quite obviously proves to be an excellent source for marketing.

I like article marketing and have seem good results with this. Inserting good keywords into the title and in the body is key to getting good results and links back to your site.

Another thing it's good for is to test the market and see what the results are from the readers it kind of lets me know if I should pursue the niche or if I'm beating a dead horse. It helps you to improve your writing as well because if you don't get a lot of views you go back and see how you can improve this or at least improve the resource box.

I also read the other articles who have a lot of views and compare it to mine who has very little to see what they did so I can do it too. This has helped me get better results.

You cannot go wrong with article marketing. It's one of the most effective methods to drive traffic and most important of all, it's free.

Another consideration is the fact that the more you write on the particular subject, the more of an authority you become and the more relevant you are to the search engines. So I would suggest three things, write articles, be consistent and build your brand.

Article marketing absolutely does work. People are constantly looking for information. The trick is using the right keywords to make easily searchable.

Yes! There are people marketing online for whom article marketing
is a significant contributor to their healthy 4-figure monthly incomes.

I have just started article marketing and this information is fantastic. I'm going to get bum marketing and do what mountain mom 5 said.

How long does it take for leads to begin coming in... I'm guessing they will come in quite slowly at first, but then it builds as you build your article base. Is that right?

Hello Kerri,

The length of time it takes to start getting results, and the flow of those results, depend on many factors, many of which you do not control. That's why there can't be an established schedule to rely on. In other words, it's completely random.

However, there are things that you can do to influence the outcome, such as:

1. Crafting powerful article titles.
2. Making the article easy and exciting to read.
3. Packing it with useful content.
4. Focusing on your keywords and key phrases.
5. Creating a resource box that encourages readers to follow the link(s).
6. Using article distributors that are popular among your niche readership.
7. Submitting to the most appropriate article category or sub category.
8. Be consistent about writing and submitting articles regularly.
9. Rinse and repeat.

It is the cumulative effect of your articles over time that will create and maintain a flood of interest about you and what you have to say. That will occur "quite slowly at first, but then it builds as you build your article base." That is right!

Article and VIdeo marketing should be the foundation of everyone campaign. They are free, provide residual value and raise your organic listings. Look to outsource your writing and videos on elance or freelance.com and you can have a consistent stream of articles reinforcing your business.

As you can tell by the other responses, there's a consensus that article marketing does work.

The real issue is whether it works well enough for your specific project to make it a core method of promotion. There are some niches and sites where a little bit of article marketing can produce huge results. In other situations, it might not be the most efficient way to drive traffic/increase backlinks.

Experiment a little with your particular site and test/track the results. Even though much of the benefit of article marketing is long term and cumulative, you should be able to get some idea of its potential for your situation fairly quickly.

You have to be very consistant with article marketing.. Its more of a long term form of marketing.

I hire people to do that kind of work for me but generally its a powerful form of marketing.. If you write 1 article a day for around 6 months you should see good amount of traffic

Submit those articles to 10 article directors and direct them back to a blog or social media page.. thats what recommend

Good Luck

I've volunteered to help promote a farm that is for sale, so I've created a Squidoo lens about it.

The farm is in rural Australia and is pretty big. Initially, the owners have been using the traditional method of advertising through a real estate agent on real estate websites but I though I might try using the online marketing techniques we've been learning about (e.g. article marketing) to help.

Do you think it could work? How would I promote the article so it can be seen by people who are looking for something like this?

Hi Biz,

Great idea and it might work. Lots of real estate folks use Squidoo to drive visitors to an preexisting listing on a different site. Some may even list the property directly on Squidoo.

You can do both if you like on a single lens. If you do, just place a "for more information" link on the lens.

Be sure to use a keyword phrase that potential buyers would use when in buy mode for a property like the one you are offering.

You can use the free keyword tool by Google here:

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

The demand for the phrase should be reasonably high (typically a few hundred to a couple thousand or more) and the competition should be low (very little green or no green on the bar).

You might also use Ezine Articles if you think you can write some enticing copy about either the listing page, the property itself, or both.

Hope that helps,

That could really help sell the farm but what you should also then do is get a link to the article onto the estate agent website so that people can read more about it, history, what there is to like about it etc.

businessonapage,
the nice thing about squidoo is you can make multiple lenses even if it is on the same topic. Everything deals with using the best keywords. Newbie Shield gave you an excellent site to check on the keywords you can use. If you make several lenses and are able to write articles using the keywords then you will be able to increase your chances on selling the farm. Hope the best to you

Well I'm back after a long stint of writing and teaching and learning. Last I was here I was using GDI and had started trying my hand at "article marketing/affiliate marketing" and now I'm a FIRM believer in it.

Newbie that little project has made me more $ than GDI ever could have in a year. Literally I'm beside myself with just how effective it has become. I've tweaked some of the more conventional methods of creating traffic using articles and it's working out really well.

Right now I'm teaching the method to 2 volunteers I picked up in an unrelated forum who wanted to learn how to make money online. Once I can prove with results that the method is teachable I plan to market it on its own.

As for article marketing for other NON affiliate type products that works out well too. On the same forum I picked up the two people I ran into a guy needing help promoting his site and offered to lend him some advice on SEO and on how to use my method and its working wonders for him.

Gavin, I would advise NOT to submit to multiple directories. I've not personally had any luck within any of the projects I've undertaken with generating the type of traffic I do with a simple ezine article. As for the long term as well I agree but will say that my most productive articles are articles I wrote several months ago and have not pushed or promoted them other than the first week they were published.

My primary reason for always joining MLMs was the reoccurring "residual" income. With article marketing you do experience this as well because your articles are ALWAYS there and will always be working for you. That being said I don't have time for GDI anymore and will most likely send a message out to my downline that I am going to go dormant, I'll keep the site up but more as an information page. (sadly I haven' tupdated my site for GDI in about 5 months

Thank you ALL for the help over the last year or two since I arrived here. EVERYTHING I've learned on THIS forum has gone into helping me become successful online. I couldn't have done it without the input of everyone on this site.

Thank you.

Vishal...thank you for the forum.

Thanks everyone for all the motivation. I have started writing a few articles and posting them.

2 have been approved but I am not getting any clicks, well very few.

Also, I posted in ezine articles. Which others are good for traffic. I want to post in a few only.

Also, how do you rewrite articles. The first one is easy but I cannot think of ways to rewrite and post a second one.

also, can I use the same article I submitted on my blog or squidoo lens?

Last, how many article are needed for each affiliate product. I know there is no formula but I have written 5 for one.

I am not happy with the conversions I am getting.
