How many comments per day should you leave on other peoples' blogs as a means of backlinking?

Also, do you just post on the first few blogs that google search comes up with or do you post on any and all blogs that are relevent?

As many as you can. However, you should also dedicate equal time to developing a search engine friendly web site too.

I agree with newpage. Comment as much as you can. Also, do not spam, make sure you actually read the blog/ post. Ponder over the issue and then comment on the content, the style, argue if you think the post is wrong.
It should come from the heart and those will work like a charm.

It is always good to comment with anchor text using your key phrase (to receive double credit) on relevant pages hopefully with a good Page Rank.

If I were searching for Wealthy Affiliate Squidoo Sites, I would type in the Google search box:
 Wealthy Affiliate Site:Squidoo.com

The higher PR sites should show first.

 Have a great day!

 Hi Dani,

As often as you have something of value to say insofar as time permits. It's not really mathematical and shouldn't really be approached mechanically.

As for the second bit, find relevant blogs that you like. Don't worry about their position in the SERPs though you can start with investigating the sites that show up first.

You'll know if you should keep returning to them by how they feel (too crowded, not enough interaction, neglected, sporadic, etc). It's a personal call.

 Hi BDK,

Yes, you can comment on another person's blog as often as you like. You can also post on your own blog as often as you like.

Many have comments set for approval - meaning that unless your comment is something they'd like to show up on their blog, they will reject it. Just add value by asking an intelligent question or perhaps weighing in on the post topic and you'll probably get your comment approved.

You can always go back the same day to comment again on the same post or a different post on the same blog.

Thanks NS! This sounds like another great way to backlink, advertise and give your honest opinion all at the same time! I guess my only other question now is what exactly is an anchor text?

 Hi BDK,

You're welcome and yes, that's exactly right :)

Anchor text is the visible text in a hyperlink. Ideally it would be relevant to the landing page, which is the page that it leads to.
