You may or may not have seen me on this website yet. I have been on just a short time and decided to make my own topic to get some direct feedback about what I'm doing to make money. Who knows if any of you will be interested or not, but I think you will learn something from me and I hope to learn something from you.
I started my journey with affiliate marketing two months ago with an online coaching program to help me learn faster. So far I think its going well because I am currently designing a doorway page to the club I belong to. I guess that's good because two months ago I wouldn't even know why I would need one.
My plan is to put a video of myself explaining the club and how its helped me and why anyone could benefit from it. People will come to this page after clicking on my ad from high traffic, keyword specific websites. I have never done this before so it may take me a while to get it up and running.
I don't have a specific question for anyone, but if you'd like, drop me a comment for suggestions or just to let me know if I'm on the right track. Obviously there is a lot of factors that go into this process so if anyone has any tricks they'd like to share I'm all ears.
Can't wait for the comments!

So...are you planning on promoting affiliate products or your own membership product? Exactly what are you doing to monetize this new plan of yours?

I'm promoting an affiliate membership. The website I am part of I am promoting. So my "doorway" page will have my hop link directly below my video. The person that signs up to the membership site, I get a cut of it through clickbank.
I noticed your link, is that a pretty good program? Did you make it? Right now I am using coffecup to design it but I'm not sure if its going to cut it. I also have to find out if coffeecup is compatable with godaddy. I beleive it is but I just want to make sure.

I love it! You are so right and you are definitely doing the right thing... even if you decide you want to promote a totally different product sometime - all the stuff you are learning will work with no matter what you sell or market in the coming months.

Thanks for the post! I needed the encouragement because I am new to this. Thanks also for your welcome, it is a pleasure to meet you.
I'd like to share a bit with you both and whoever comes to the post. I don't want pity, but I need encouragement, tips that work, and constructive criticism because I'm not doing all of this for me.
I've shared that I recently started affiliate marketing not long ago. The point is that I am fine off financially and could be relaxing and watching TV. I just got back from Iraq, I'm starting realty classes next week, and going back to college in the spring. There is vested interest in doing affiliate marketing for me in the future, but also for my wife, her brother, sister, and Mom and Dad.
My father-in-law is not far from losing his dairy farm and all the land that goes with it. It's been in the family since the late 1800s and he has worked his whole life practically (he's 53 now) but still owes hundreds of thousands of dollars because of the poor milk prices (what he gets for milk now is the same as it was in the 1970s).
I'm not looking for instant success or to make a killing here. But my goal is to donate all that I make to help lessen the burden that my father-in-law has and keep the farm from going under.
Like I said before, I don't want anyone's pity, but if anyone that has a heart sees this post I really hope you won't turn away turned off because of some sob story. I beg for anyone to leave valuable information for all of us to speed our success in this growing industry.

Hello Chris,
The people who have shaped the farm land and feed should have great wealth.
I did not realize the price of milk has not changed for the farmers!
So, the distributors are the ones making the money right?
I am sorry to hear about this.
It sounds like you have a plan of action.
Just avoid sales letters for more Internet Marketing products.
Squidoo is a wonderful place to get started, and there are Squidoo experts who frequent this forum!

Thanks for your post. I appreciate the input.
Yes, the middle man is making all the money when it comes to milk. The middle man is the distributors and pasteurizers. The only other people making it in the dairy business now is the corporate dairy farms (ones with fully automatic milkers).
I'm not sure about squidoo. I've seen the name floating around here and there but have never taken any interest. I'm currently in a marketing club already so I don't know if I'd be interested. Can you give me some more information (costs, guarantees, etc.)?
