As a newbie, I have been thinking alot how to generate targeted buying traffic. One of the issues am taking into consideration is ethics.

Can you please share examples of effective but unethical traffic generation techniques out there, for my info/guidance.

 Thanks.

 Jose

First of all, I wouldn't recommend using "unethical" methods for anything you do online. Secondly, if you are considering buying bulk traffic, I have heard that it can be a total waste of money. Third, if you are considering doing "blackhat" techniques, which many people consider to be unethical, your website may be de-indexed from the search engines.

Effective but unethical? I guess I will have to pass on that one as I am a bit slow on understanding what you are asking...

 Hi Purpose,

I don't think you'll find much traction for that topic here, at least I hope not. Why don't you focus on ethical methods?

The ethical methods will be more targeted and last much longer, and you will feel better about them.
 Have a great Sunday!

Thank you guys for your comments. Actually, am not lookig for effective but unethical techniques to impement myself
. Far from it. I just want to be aware of what are some examples out there for my information.
As an example, a popular ebook on traffic generation I bought recommends multiple posting in Craigslist. As I read the Craigslist rules, it seems to be a violation. Those are examples I want to be aware of.

 Purpose,

It's not really something we discuss on this forum. Google your questions instead. There's nothing wrong with reading about it. It's one thing to read about it and another to list the methods.

Use common sense to avoid violating TOS or to avoid exploiting loopholes if you wish to evade the consequences of paying the price for tactics that are against the rules.

I can kind of understand why you would want to know.....but I don't really see the point in it.
When people buy products from you their basically buying you, so wouldn't you want to represent yourself in an appropriate manner?

I agree with Newbie Shield, I'd google for your answers but I wouldn't use them.

 Just my take on it.

So is it ethical to ride the wave of ther sites seach engine rankings?

Because people do deliberately place some if not all of their content at sites such as Squidoo and HubPages rather than on their own server.

Rather than battle it out alone which is more honest if somewhat stupid.

Okay, let me be clear that there's a BIG difference between violating
a TOS (Terms of Service) and being unethical. There's also a BIG
difference between blackhat methods and being unethical.

It's like breaking the law and being unethical/immoral. If you
jay-walk and get a ticket, you've broken the law but what's the
ethics in that? You let your grass grow a little high and get fined by
your home association. Are you unethical?

 purposedriven42,

Looking at your handle, I find it ironic that you ask that question.

I understand where it is you're coming from wanting to know, I'm a student of learning myself. I think touching on the area of "unethical" and online marketing can be very touchy as there are MANY grey areas. Most reputable companies try to stay clear of such grey area's but there are also a lot of site that not only promote them, but use them.

I know I have been guilty of not reading every word in a TOS and being in violation, I try to stay clear of shady marketing methods even when legal or within the TOS. For instance until I read the CL TOS a bit more I would often times "get around" some of their methods for eliminating dup posts. I could still be doing this but I use my time elsewhere. There are indeed many illegal, unethical, sketchy yet effective(obviously because you're taking advantage of something) ways to advertise.

IF it feels wrong stay clear of it.

Just do a Google search on "blackhat seo". You'll find tons of stuff.
