I took a gander on reviewstream.com, and they published me, can you believe it!!
I know, very weird, but I have always wanted to write, and I just thought it sounded like fun, so I gave it a try, and I made $2.00, in like 5 minutes.... 
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I found some really good tips and advice on this forum, and I wanted to thank you all......

Kathy, I've been writing for many years and have worked as writer and editor and you must be very very careful of these websites which pay you pennies for clicks and such. You can sell your work to legit markets for SO much more money. I wouldn't waste any time on websites that basically want you to write content and are unwilling to pay you for it. They take advantage of people like you who have "always wanted to write," and they give you a boost to see your work published, but they pay nothing. After a while, you will become disheartened because you are a published writer who is somehow making 10 bucks a month or what have you.
Writers are NOT well respected. You must fight to earn money in that business, because everyone thinks that writing is "easy" and they shouldn't have to pay for it. Be careful of the fine print on these sites (like associated content and years ago, themestream) which states that you are selling them the work to be used any way they see fit or to be reproduced without compensation to you. They are the ones making the money -- not you.
Get yourself a copy of the writer's digest Writer's Market or sign up for it online. This book lists thousands of paying markets for writers.
There is something important I also must point out about these websites that offer a few bucks here and there for your work:
Many of the articles and works they purchase are not properly edited. I have checked articles on Associated Content and they are rife with spelling and grammatical errors. Do you want your writings to appear on a site with such sloppy work? It will harm your reputation as a writer.
A writer must study and know the markets, know exactly what you're selling (First North American Serial Rights? All rights? Electronic rights?). Know if you will be able to sell the same work elsewhere or not. Polish and edit your work, leave no stone unturned. Follow structure and formatting rules.
These websites for content are just like mills -- they reel you in and have you churn out work for them so they can bring in ad revenue and/or sell your work (check out associated content's page for buyers!) and then they also encourage you to advertise for them for FREE (also check out AC's "sticker page." UGH.)
Be SO careful. I know it feels great to be published, but it does matter WHERE you're published and what rights you're selling and whether that company is going to offer your content for sale later without giving you compensation (check out Tasini vs. the New York Times for details: http://www.asja.org/media/nr050329.php )
Join a local writer's organization or a national one if you can. Join the National Writer's Union. Educate yourself if you want to write for a living. Don't get sucked into empty promises by businesses offering the joys of being published. You deserve to be PAID for your work.
Also check out Angela Hoy's newsletter, Writer's Weekly. She has a huge section on writing scams and also the dangers of underselling your work.

I use Associated Content and their pay isn't so bad. I'm not a writer but I do enjoy writing my opinion on things but that doesn't make me a bad writer either.

Somnambulist is giving you some really great advice here and you should definitely take heed. The Writer's Weekly newsletter is great, I really enjoy reading it. Writer's Digest also has a great newsletter full of useful and entertaining information, and I love that it lists contests you can enter as well. Writer's Digest also holds an annual writing competition and publishes an anthology with the winners. Definitely something to shoot for!

I knew I was giving away rights when I submitted to associated but I never felt cheated till now I guess the higher google rankins sorta make up?
I do enjoy just posting though and having some people read even if only a few, If i write 10 articles I can bank easy, $5 and writing is no huge deal to me as I type fast

I gave up on ReviewStream because, in my opinion, they're too picky and they take too long to approve or deny your article. You can't actually get paid until you reach $50. I got my first two articles accepted for $2.00 and it seemed great, but then they started rejecting them. I resubmitted for "bulk rate", and they accepted one, but rejected the others again saying "not specific enough." The bulk rate is only 40 cents, and if they're going to be taking four days to decide to reject an article you already submitted before because it's not specific enough, and they didn't tell you that the FIRST time you submitted it... I'm submitting any reviews I write elsewhere.
