I am taking the leap from Corporate America to working at home fulltime. My primary concern is health insurance, especially since my husband has some severe pre-existing conditions. I realize I get COBRA on a temporary basis.

Can those of you in the USA that have health insurance let me know what you are doing? I live in Florida. Thanks!!!!

You could try checking out ehealthinsurance.com. I don't know if they would accept your husband, however, with pre-existing conditions, but they do have pretty good rates.

Here in St Louis, there is a small business association that you can become a member of. All of these 'member' businesses form a group and go out and get a group plan together. Perhaps there is a similar organization in the city where you live? It's worth checking into!

Thank you both, I was wondering about the small business member associations and will check out ehealthinsurance.com as well.

We also have to kids in college so I need to have coverage for the 18 and 19 year old as well - it's my husband that is going to be very expensive, and I am sure I will cost a fair amount to.

Just for the record, usually most colleges have pretty good low cost insurance plans, and you can most likely still enroll your kids in them if you need to - check with your kids' colleges for more information.
