Hi there, I'm sure you've already done it, but for those just starting out it's always a good idea to go to your director first. Having said that this is a great place to ask quesions!
There are many advertising sources to get you going: You can market our product to businesses, advertise on Craigslist and recruit professionals, the nice part is these methods are all free.
Buying leads is always an option just DON'T pay too much, it's not necessary and I've learned the hard way! In hindsight, I haven't seen much difference from a $10 lead to a $2 lead. Maybe there are others in the business who've seen better results from paying more?....you can also put ads in newspapers and if you click on this link it gives you the choice to collectively advertise in newspapers in specific cities or states around the country:

I hope this helps,
Roger

Hi I'm not sure about what group you are from, but CSG has a couple lead generation teams - one being CEM (not bad) one being Responsive Data - pretty good, and then there is mlmleads.com that have coastal specific leads.....don't know how good they are though....
Then there are always the other that Roger mentioned above....
Hope you find a good one. Lindsay

Yup.. I would agree heartily!
A lead, is a lead is a lead...
I have tried everything from HBC to old email autoresponder leads.. I get consistently the same results. (I use CEM exclusively). For every 2-300 I spend, I make one sale. 70% of sales do come in at l2.
So.. it depends on your style and how much time you have! Some people LOVE x type of leads, others HATE them. Whatever you do, DO be consistent and give it a chance. I say, do your homework, listen to your director, and then stick with whatever you decide to do for 3 months. BE CONSISTENT and remember the fortune IS in the FOLLOW UP!
DO NOT make the mistake of getting a gazillion leads and making a whack of qualifying calls and then dropping that follow up. FOLLOW UP takes priority over NEW LEADS every time. There is a balance, of course.. because it doesn't look good or have the same effect if you are calling leads months after they inquire. That is the beauty of autoresponder and personal emails!

Thanks Jani, I had the same ole director story as some people, so I let Coastal sit on the shelf for almost a 1yr. I found a new director, and he does work with the Synergy group. I don't mind calling people, but I'm use to doing live seminars with my direct sales biz. I have been doing some light online advertising and getting a few responses. Thanks for sharing your percentage of money spent to avg. a sale. Just trying to find something that works for me... Any advice where to run some classifieds... effectively?

There are several states that are "homebased biz" friendly. They are states like California, Florida, Texas, Nevada, Ohio and I think Arizona but when I look at my sales I have signups from only 2 of those states. I do have signups from areas that you would think wouldn't be friendly like New York and Chicago. I actually have 2 members from NY. There are services that will do multiple news papers at one time for you and you save a lot of money. Nationwide Classifieds is one of those I think. You MUST be consistant with the classifieds. Repetition is what makes Classifieds work.

Going back to the leads question, I had good results with Responsive Data leads with my prior company.

I know that other people have had very good results with the elitemlmleads.com I haven't tried them myself, but I know they are much less expensive and people have been happy with them!
Just whatever you do, make sure if you are using a back office with autoresponder system with your group that they are (preferably) double opt in and you can PROVE they want and requested the information to avoid spam complaints. I recommend that people actually CALL the person first, confirm their email and then ask if they would like details via email before placing them in your autoresponder. Better be safe then sorry!
Cheers

I believe it's also true, saying this from experience, some of the best leads are the ones you generate yourself.

My last 8 to 9 sales have come from posting on forums so the forums really work. Just answer questions. Don't try to sell.

WOW!! That's cool... I'm assuming most of the forums I can find by doing a google search... Right?
Thanks

Thanks Maria!
Thats a new one to me! I will add it to my list for team members!
I notice you are a member of both VP and WCYS! How do you run that? I was with VP too, I thought they disappeared. My director did at least. Ended up for the best though, things are rocking now!
May I ask what kind of conversion you and your team are getting for my notes?
Thanks much
Jani

I actually do a combo of promotions. I wait until people contact me to get back to them. Either via my system or toll free number. I did start out the traditional way, having warm leads put into my system. That worked very well, but now that I have a large and growing team I prefer to focus on my team members and get them up and running quickly and smoothly.
I actually tloo am finding that word of mouth works the best. For most people though, you first need to have experience and success in your business. I also highly recommend using your travel package to promote your buisness its a great way to get your name out there. Its easy, its fun and if you are donating to a cause you support and feel good about you also feel great about being able to help them raise funds.
Cheers

jani, thanks for all of your insight. I've struggled trying to find the best way for me. I became frustrated in the beginning and quit because my director basically forgot about me. I made the mistake of giving up.
I'm really wanting to make this work for me and my family... I've been in direct sales for some time, and own my a small direct sales biz... However, I've struggled with this. Mainly becuase I've never done much selling over the phone. I've always been in front of people. I've always had systems where the people came to me, instead of me going to them. That's the niche I'm trying to find in this business.
Thanks,
