We were a little worried about our paypal account a while back when we had heard of being shut down for being MLM or Coastal or whatever. A that time we removed any mention of Coastal from our paypal account. This took a phone call and quite a while on hold. BUt eventuallt it was removed. I must mention to all of you though. From the start of our business we have had the most luck with transfers through our bank. We are able to send the info to our clients or to their bank directly. The money is transferrd from there account to yours within 24 hours. Now I can only speak for the banks we deal with in Canada (RBC and TD) but Each gave us all the info we needed to transfer funds securely using this method.
WE have found only one occasion where we had to speak to our clients bank over the phone to clarify some info. Other than that its been a very simple process on both sides. I hope this helps

Hi Maria,

I have used Alertpay. They are a pretty good company based in Canada. You have to transfer money into your Alertpay account then from there to another person's Alertpay account then into their bank account. There are many different ways to get money in and out of accounts. But they all take time. the shortest is about 24-48 hours and the longest is about a week. So a total of 4 days to 2 weeks from person to person. It has been about a year since I used them last, so they may have changed some things, maybe it has gotten faster. I don't know.

Bank Checks and Money Orders seem to be the way to go. PayPal is a HORRIBLE payment option as they are a middle person and can tie up your funds for upto 45 days.

Merchant accounts have the same challenge. I know of one director who had over $40K taken from his bank account because of the large quantity of sales he was making and I never did hear if he got the money back.

MOST Directors will never get to a place where it makes sense to pay $35+++ per month for a merchant account. The WHOLE reason we even have it is so the "groups" running them can get a kick back for you signing up for it anyway.

My merchant account is a GREAT tool. It allows people to use there checkcard or creditcard with 95% of the people who join your team will want to do. I know of people who have been ready to start up and went to another director simply because that director couldn't accept cards of any type. Yes, the perfect world would be to have everyone send you a certified check in the mail but this is a checkcard and creditcard world now and you will be losing sales if you don't have a way to accept them.

Harold,

Which merchant account are you using and how much does it charge each month?

Harold I agree

I have had my account with card services for over 4+ yrs (years before it was offered by coastal) and have never had a problem with them.

At least 50% who join me use credit cards. The % who use paypal has dwindled over the years, so not using paypal will not affect my business.

But Jay is right, there is a kick back given to the refferer, but quite honestly those who sign up with coastalvacationsmerchantaccount dot com are getting a much better rate and pay less per month than I do, but I still find it very worth it. I think the current monthly fees end up being around $40/mo (I pay twice as much and would not be without it).

To only accept money orders and bank wires may lose you sales in my experience.

cheers

PS thank you Lance for your reply.
