starting with a free website or maybe still using a free website? I am so ready to go but cannot afford a lump sum of money. I would really like to hear from those that either have free websites or used them in the beginning. When I am successful, I will want to upgrade I am fairly sure of that. But for now, I want to start "moving" and yes, I can study as I go but I learn by doing and I really want to get started. I've researched free sites, inexpensive sites, and expensive sites. I could afford a low monthly payment but not a lump sum. Free sounds good to me to learn on. But I need to register my domain, sign up with a webhosting site and also, need a free site-builder.

Any help will be appreciated

PS I thought sure I had posted this earlier but I went back and couldn't find my post anywhere. Sorry if it shows up

I hope the following straight forward guide suggestion would help if you insist on doing it free:

Free sites - set up a blogspot, squidoo or hubpages

Free marketing method - consider using article marketing by posting articles to Ezinearticles.com & etc (sign up for Travis's bum marketing method for step by step guide, but don't subscribe for the services recommended by him)

Hi oregoncountry,

Did you mean that you wanted to join affiliate marketing with a free option or are you looking for a free website?

Denise,

The best thing that has worked for me is blogging. Hands down! Pick a niche and just start blogging and adding content. Google loves focused and new content. Within just a few weeks I was at the top of the page on some keywords and getting traffic from google. So, I used those keywords and started to do more blogs around those keyword. Then you can start to add affiliate links all over and even write your own ebook for people to buy using paypal.

It is great!

Thank you JC, I am really pleased with Google(the tools I've tried so far). I just happened to "start" a blog there about 2 weeks ago but dropped the ball. So it's in process and sounds like a good idea. Sounds much better than getting a whole website(free or not)going before I have much of a clue what Im doing, LOL!!

Thank you much ttyl, denise

Hi BigD,

getting into Affiliate Marketing with a free option sounds like it could be "get in now" pay later? I just wanted folks opinions on the whole, regarding their experience in starting out with "free materials" i.e. webhosting, sitebuilders

Hi Cherie, does my photo look like a guy?? I think I better rethink my choice of avatar if it does, LOL!! Nice to meet you

What I was hoping for was folks with experience in setting up their business using free resources, minimum resources or some of the more expensive packages.

This isn't an attempt to be cheap Gary It's an attempt to create income so I can have money to invest in something better on down the road.

I do appreciate your info and I am going to take a look now!

Have a great day, denise

By the way, thank you for this also Gary. I had read some of his stuff before. In fact I think it might be the first I read on Affiliate Marketing

oregoncountry-
I haven't been doing affiliate marketing long, a bit over a month now, but the program I am using cost me $17 and I received a free website with it. You do have to pay for hosting about anywhere you get a site anyhow tho'.
If that isn't exactly what you had in mind...a program... try using Homestead. I pay $6.99 a month for a website and they take care of my hosting also.
I also use Squidoo, and I LOVE IT! It is completely free and it serves as a website.

Good Luck!

You have gotten some great advice here! As far as blogs - I set up a simple blog on a whim here awhile back and it got traffic immediately - it was a niche that wasn't all drowned out yet - only problem was finding stuff to promote on it other than Amazon. lol

I didn't pay a dime for it - I used Wordpress to do the blog on, linked it to products on Amazon, relating to the blog..and oh what the heck, I might as well tell you what it was about as I don't make tons of money on it anyways... it was on Twilight stuff...

When the Twilight movie came out, I thought, hmmm... wonder if I could build a blog to get traffic and then later monetise... I did and it is my most visited blog - LOL

I keep watching for ways to monetise it, but haven't found a lot so far except for Amazon...

Moral of the story?

Find a niche that isn't saturated yet , do some keyword research and pick good keywords to build a blog and Squidoo lenses - link them all together and link to Clickbank products or other affiliate products thru places like commission junction, linkshare, shareasale, etc...

Won't cost you a dime unless you get a few domain names and even there, if you get a .info it is only $1.99 a year ...

If you're a newbie and just beginning I suggest doing the 30 Day Challenge it's FREE and you will learn the basics of affiliate marketing. It's the best program for newbies online that is free. Do it before you start the site/blog. They will teach you how and start you off with Wordpress Direct. Just google 30 Day Challenge.

I haven't been in affiliate marketing for very long but there are some you can join free to see if it's for you before you commit and start paying - you obviously have to be careful though.

It is very possible to make sale without incurring any costs using Travis's bum marketing method. Just that you need to keep writing articles and submit it to EZA.

Just to share with you, I set up a blog promoting colic calm product and have written less than 10 articles thus far, but I manage to make two sales without spending a dime though the commission is only $8.
