I've heard about people running their own ads on their MySpace pages. I searched through MySpace terms and I couldn't figure out how this would work. In fact I am not even sure if it is allowed to have affiliate links on your MySpace page.
Does anyone know?

I have learned a few things. First, if you use an active hyperlink, your account will get deleted. Doesn't take long at all. SO...here's one trick...type the url...but don't make it a hyperlink! So the person has to copy and paste it into their browser...but you don't get your account deleted for having a hyperlink. Just one trick I learned when I was working with MySpace. Hope it helps!
PS Not against the TOS as far as I know...BUT...they will sometimes try to peg you for spam when you're using a hyperlink...and you don't get any second chances. They simply delete the account, and it's gone! Then you have to start all over again.

Do you mean when using an affiliate link, or any link? It does let you add links so I didn't think it was a problem to add a link to your own sites ...

Right. Especially affiliate links. They spider for that and delete it right away. Sometimes even regular hyperlinks they do that for (if there's any kind of network marketing on your site, that is). Just a pointer I picked up from someone who made $500k in 8 months...mainly advertising on MySpace. :-p Crazy! lol
As for me, I couldn't ever quite get it...even took a few courses thinking I must be just not getting it. Still didn't get it. lol Oh well! Just not for me. Good luck!
And, yes, aplina has it head on, too. If it sounds like an ad, you will likely have your site deleted. So be careful about that.

PS So I'm not a master at using MySpace...BUT...I might consider myself a master of getting my MySpace accounts deleted for above reasons and others...lol :-p Crazy.

You should make your MySpace as real as possible. Then, find your niche and invite them as friends. Send them messages, post bulletins/comments, and be a friendly person with advice to offer if needed. This also works as an opt-in list. You can always send links in messages. The key is to "keep it real"

Does anyone know if Myspace stores your IP address? The reason I ask is because I have a personal profile on Myspace that I do not to lose if I open a new business profile and it gets deleted.
