What has people's experience been with advertising on your blogs with companies like Blog for profit....adsense...or others.

Are they bringing in income for anyone?

What are some good ways to make an income (im happy with a modest income) from blogging?

How do people advertise their blogs and drive traffic to them?

Hi wyntersheart,

Figure out the fundamentals of online marketing as a first step. In doing so you'll see how to monetize a blog.

Just make sure that you pick a topic that you'd really enjoy writing about.

Don't rush it. Take your time learning about it for a few months. Then experiment a bit.

NS has great advice - and if you are like me and the thought of learning for a few months drives you half insane, then just pick a topic, like a hobby you really like , or perhaps information you love to share, etc, etc, and set up a blog , start posting good quality information and as you learn new things... go back and implement them on your blog.

Learn as you go.

Adsense can be great. A simple thing you can do is google 'blog ad networks' and check out a bunch. I've had different degrees of success with adsense, chitika, kontera, and a few others.

Build traffic by doing link building. Focus on off page optimization. it will increase current clicks and give you more data on how to improve your AdSense.

Adsense works great - the best thing to do is create a 336 X 280 rectangle at the top of the page, and place other Adsense advertisements in other parts of the page. Don't rule out promoting affiliate products, however...

Of course, the ads do bring in money for those who use them and Adsense seem to be the best among them all.

They can certainly bring a good income but obviously only when you are getting good traffic. IE - at least 500 views a day. I wouldn't place ads if you have less than this
