I just recently showed my friend how to make money blogging. So far he has made almost $16 in 2 days, but he also hasn't really started to advertise yet. The key is to educate yourself on a profitable keyword, and then write a blog about it. It's also a great way to start learning new things.

Ok here it goes, generally there are 2 ways to earn money with blogging. First way is to make your blog very popular then you apply Adsense ads to it (Blogger allows that) OR secondly you can use your blog as a landing page which contains various information about a product that you wish to sell within a specific niche.
Normally the latter is a better way to earn money with blogging since you don't rely on high traffic, but rather low and targeted traffic.
So long story short, you need to find a certain product that suits you, get an affiliate link, creat a blog about that topic/product, write some useful information, submit an affiliate link to your blog and voila! you are done. All you have to do now is wait for visitors to click on the link and hope that they buy the advertised product of yours!
Last but not least it's not that simple as it sounds, although many ppl tell you otherwise. The key to success in blogging is to actually make your blog stand out. Make your content relevant, so at the end visitors will do what you want them to do, and that is... buy the product.
How do you make your blog relevant?
The content on your blog is relevant when it contains the same or at least similar keywords that a certain person will search for. The more your content matches with your searcher's keywords the more chance you have for your blog to be displayed on the very top of the search engines. That's how it goes.

Why don't you go discuss your Squidoo Lens in the Squidoo folder thread. I'll go visit it if you do that :)
If anyone else has a lens, go post it in the said folder and I'll visit the lens.

You can create several free sites at first. You can make a HubPages, Squidoo, BLogger, and Wordpress site. You can monetize in various ways, especially with affiliate links.
After you make some money with these sites, still keep and maintain them, but host your own sites to step up with the ad revenue.
Note: link to the site that you think you will make the most money from all of the other sites. You can also link them all together.
Note: Do not make more than one site to be linked to in a single month. Google may tag one or more sites as a link farm.

Hi Tony,
With my limited knowledge(wayyyy limited, lol)I decided to not spend what little I have on getting started when there are so many free ways to "learn the biz"(whatever biz you choose). I am reading a Blog guide(step by step)today and hopefully, will be able to become a successful, Affiliate Marketer. I do surveys now and have started writing articles to use for advertising. I've seen a few blogs from folks here and they look great to me. I'm looking around the forum today to see how others started their blogs and how they are doing with them.

Mornin Newbie,
So many things are posts from 1 or 2 years ago. Is this info still all good to go for today? I am working on a blog to get myself started and as you might have gathered from my posts, I have a lot to learn.
