pinkyparrot: I agree 100%. Surveys for me have paid my mortgage for 1 month and only 1 time. However they do pay for some of the smaller monthly bills for me I find it hard to believe you paid your mortgage from straight survey work.
Maybe trial offers.
Maybe selling paid survey manuals.
Maybe CPA for survey companies.
Maybe by referring others who then referred others, etc.
But by filling out questionnaires all by itself, I'm not able to believe it. I just can't imagine it.
==================
Yes, I agree that learning bum marketing is a good way to go.
Prepare to build a foundation for a couple months in which you might not see a penny. But go for it. It works if you persist.
Don't give up.
Most legitimate work at home jobs are like a dollar of two per hour.
You can get in a lowest bidding war at site like elance.com with people in countries where it costs less to live.
That's actually been a viable option for me, to get through some lean times.

Look for a business that has been established for 5+ years, that has good leadership and that has a product or service that will actually benefit people.

It does make sense that you will have to invest at least a little upfront money. Not nearly as much an offline business though. Not even close. I personally am investing $50 a month paying for a membership and an Auto-responder called Aweber.
It is true that something like 98% of people that start an online business quit because they don't see an income as fast as they would like. If you find what you want to do stick with it.......
Success To Us All!!!!!!!!

P.S I forgot to say that I would avoid company's that don't share very much information before having to sign up with them. It has been my experience that the times that I did sign up that way there were all kinds of things to pay for in order to continue. Look for company's that are willing to show you how they work before you sign up. Always avoid High Pressure sales tactics. I have fallen for that a time or two with much regret....
Again Success To Us All!!!!!!!!!!

Find a product you would purchase without the income opportunity, or one which is not a hard sell by whoever is trying to sell you or recruit you. If you simply ask yourself if you would be a customer without the business, you will save yourself a ton of money, time and hassle. Too many programs ask for too much up front, then milk you or upsell you once you get in, so beware of the bait and switch deals.
Success to all,

You could try affiliate marketing. These are sites that pay a commission for selling other people's products. However, you will not only need to train but will also have to be patient because results are slow in coming.
Transcription jobs are available as well. If you can write, then you can do transcription as well. There are many companies that offer this service.
While I would have liked to introduce you to data entry sites, I realize that they may not be the best because there is immense competition from countries that have a very low standard of life. Therefore, yo will be competing with individuals who will most certainly place a bid that is less than half of your bare minimum.
If you look hard enough, you will most definitely find an opportunity. The rule is not to pay to work.
