...to make money?
I am a newbie, and it occurred to me, Why not sign up for an affiliate program, write articles for ezine, so it could be picked up by google, place an affiliate link at the bottom. Only those interested are gonna read the article in the first place, so chances of making a sale are high. And one doesn't need a website, just an affiliate link should do.
Is this a correct approach?

This is a great approach, except for one thing...most Ezines don't let you put affiliate links in the article. However, you should be able to get away with this at Goarticles.com, and you can also do this with a Squidoo lens, Hubpages, or ad on USfreeads.com - or put up a blogger blog.

Some merchants do not track conversions accurately, so you may not be paid what you deserve.

I'd create the full article on your site. I'd write a partial and slightlly different worded sample at some Ezine. I'd include the link to your site in the article. I'd put an affiliate link at the end of your article ON YOUR SITE.

1. You are not able to track the affiliate links traffic. 2. A lot of websites didn't allow affiliate links
So you will have problem to advertise your ad

Agree with Cherie and will also add the fact that you're not going to get a ton of traffic from these articles alone. Their value comes in just as much for the backlink as it does the traffic. Consider a good landing page instead, if they are really interested, they will click through.

Use Squidoo as a landing page and you can use their tracking system. Put the affilaite link in your lens and viola!, no web site needed.

You could do that and buy a domain name and redirect it to your affilliate page. You could also start a Blogger.com blog for free and then just create pages on it for various affiliate products where you pre-sell your visitor before sending them to your affiliate link. This way you could advertise your blog url and have no problems.

Having your own web presence is definitely better. You can even get that sort of thing for free too if you want to go the free route. Also, I'd point out that it is easy to publish articles and have very few people read them. So, article marketing aloneshould be just ONE of the tools in your traffic-building toolbox.
