I saw ODesk & I'm interested, I'd like to join but I would like somebody who works for ODesk to explain the "bidding" thing to me. Does this mean that people who are doing the work have to pay for the jobs they want to do?
And is it possible to be paid by check?
And are the jobs available to citizens of the Caribbean?

By bidding, you have to post for how much you are willing to do the work.
