Hello everyone. I am new here and this is my first post. I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me get started in an at home business. I understand this is not an overnight success opportunity but if I could supplement my income by even $100 monthly in the long run... It would be a great help to contribute to my son's daycare which makes finances very tough for my family. I work 40-60 hours a week at my day job but I have time in the evenings to dedicate to learning, researching, working and hopefully... someday helping others that are starting out like myself... to pay it forward for the help I hope to soon receive on this forum. I learn fast but to be honest, I do not even know where to begin. I am hoping someone can take a little time to point me in the right direction... tell me what is best to start with until I take off on my own after understanding the overall gist of things. I hope someone contacts me, I am very excited to start learning. Thank you in advance to anyone willing to help.

Most likely you won't make money right away it takes time to make money online. And there's so many directions you can go. You need to do your research and take a little time to learn what's going on. It is fun and you will meet a lot of interesting people and some you wish you hadn't as well. You need to be careful of scammers.

I agree with Sonni, that you need to do some research as there are so many things one can do online... and I am glad you realize that it takes some time to get started.

You are doing the right thing though, by asking questions... as you do your research , don't be afraid to ask how things work as that is one of the fastest ways to learn.

A lot of us have information about what we do in our signature links... so you can do some research that way...

Hi Thaiboxer04,

I know EXACTLY how you are feeling. I've been in your shoes - willing to work, but not having a clue how to get started.

I'll send you a private message with some info. that really helped me get started. Just check your messages (there's a link at the top of the forum after you sign in).

Blessings,
Angie

Hi Thaiboxer,
You definitely need to do some research to find something that excites you and you feel would be a right fit. Once you do find something, don't jump from opportunity to opportunity. You need to be consistent with your promotion, whatever that may be. Doing something to promote your business everyday. Consistency is key. Finally, be patient. Success does not happen over night.
Hope that helps
Connie

If you need money urgently, you can start to look for work at home jobs. In the meanwhile, you can also concentrate on your home business if you have time.

A problem many people face is an information overload which can leave you in the middle not getting anything done. The best way to make money online is to pick one or two methods and stick to them.

ThaiBoxer, working 40-60 hours a week is tough and it doesn't leave you a lot of time to advertise and market something but since you are working full-time you may be able to invest a small amount for advertising, whether it be pay per click or purchasing ad - space on a website that attracts a lot of traffic.

If you sign up to a program such as one of the ones in my signature link you just advertise the link you are given and receive money each time someone buys the product or signs up to something.

Because of your lack of time I will once again recommend Pay Per Click advertising. Google how PPC works and see what you think.
If you set PPC up right it is just like a money tree and the more you spend on a campaign the more profit you make.
If you set it up wrong you will lose money - very fast!

Hi Thaiboxer,

The first step is to identify the fundamental components of online marketing. Then study each component.

Take the free 30 Day Challenge from the link below:

www.thirtydaychallenge.com

After that, either step into SBI (Talk to HappyWife) or purchase something like Honest Riches 3.0.

Experiment with free sites such as WordPress.com, Squidoo, or Hub Pages for a few months.

Last step is to get into paid hosting - either SBI or pick a hosting company yourself.

Throughout, Google whatever you are curious about and read like crazy. Interact on this forum and where ever else you want. It helps quite a bit to read through previous forum threads.

Main thing is too learn enough up front before you get to the paid hosting step or you'll tank and give up. I've seen it happen a million times.

Just be sure to write about something you know quite a bit about and would like to write about.

Thank you all for responding! I honestly didnt think I would get so many replies. The way you all chimed in so quickly really helped boost my confidence to give this a 100% "go". Obviously if I got this nice of a welcoming... then I feel comfortable that after I do some research, any questions I have, one of you nice people would be willing to help. I dont suppose anyone would want to trade their knowledge with this for personal training or weight loss advice LOL. Hey... figured I'd offer since I'm asking for everyone's help and dont have much to give in return Once again, thank you all for your help and I look forward to getting to know you all. Happy New Year

Just a quick suggestion. If you can write about something you know a lot about, or are willing to do research, you can submit articles to Associated Content. AC pays about 5 bucks, (or more), for a well-written article of about 5 to 6 hundered words.

With practice, many people can write 2 or more such articles in an hour.

Thaiboxer04

When it come to making money online, there's really only three options available to you.

Make money with advertising.

This first option is to use ads or adverts. I don't mean to actually to spend money on advertising your stuff. I mean by placing ads on your site. AdSense is a good example.

Your second option is to sell affiliates products. this is where you promote other people's products and you make a commission.
Clickbank is the most popular place that people go to for that.

The third option is to create your own product, whether it is an ebook a video or a coaching program. this option will require a lot of work and you'll need a lots of know how.

The formula for making money online is as fallows

Content = Clicks = Cash

If your just starting you'll need to start buy learning how to build your website. no need to spend money there, a lots of good free tutorial in all the good programs. They will supply this as their free content, so no need to spend money for that part.

By far the most important part for making money online, Is, website traffic and this days Social Traffic is the way to go. Again you can find good free info on that. Just be careful you could get band really fast.

Hi Thaiboxer04,

I think that there is some very solid advice outlined in the above posts.
The one thing that helped me a lot before I chose a online money making program was to find a few free online e books that give you a good big picture idea of some of the methods that people are using online. Bum marketing is a good free resource.
Also invest in a program that will take step by step through the process. I have found that I can be difficult to read a book and have any Idea where start first!

I say affiliate marketing, even though there is a learning curve.

Squidoo is apparently the easiest place to begin advertising and is totally free.

Since you already are working so much, I would consider an eBook written exclusively for Squidoo.

I am also a Thirty Day Challenge member, and always have good things to say about that, if you have time to work on it at your own page.
It is free as well.
PM me if I may help!

First off, great work comitting to a business. I do some work in this field helpingpeople to pick the best business for them and the 2 most important things are:

1. Find a product you believe in and can see yourself selling and
2. Find a business that you will have a mentor in.

These two are absolute necessities when you are first starting out.

Hope this helps.

I would have to say my No1 tip when starting out would be

Don't spend any money (at least until you have made some)- There is so much information to consume out there that is totally free. You don't NEED this or that new ebook or home study course.

Research is the key.

And well done Thaiboxer04, you're doing that right now.

To Your Success,

Miltski.

Hi there!

I hope the following process may point you in the right direction.

1). Find a topic that you love and have a good understanding of.
2). Research the hell out of it!
3). Create a content rich website around your subject of choice. Add to the content regularly and keep your site updated.
4). Wait for traffic to build upto say 30 uniques per day (this can take time but be patient)
5). Add monitization tools such as adsense, affiliation products etc

It is critically important to create a website with good content first to let the search engines view your site as fresh, unique and credible. It can take time but the results are worth the wait.

If, like me you have no experienc of html, creating a website etc. You can use a professional service such as sitebuildit. There are also many free sitebuilders out there but whether your site will be indexed with these is anyones guess.

Hope this helps a little.

Thanks
Tom

Hey Thaiboxer04,
I know exactly how you feel, i think we've all been there. I would recmmend starting as an affiliate. It's the fastest way to get cash, so it's motivating. Go to Clickbank first and open an account, than choose one of the affiliates they propose. Pick something that you connect with, i think it helps (health product, food etc), than start to promote. You don't even have to have a website as Clickbank gives you a hop link, it means everytime you'll send the link to someone or advertise it, it will be directed to the product's website, and if someone buys it, you'll get a comission. Now, hop links are ugly, so you might want to buy a domaine name (10$) and forard/mask it. It sounds complicated, but it is really simple. I recommend you'll watch Mac Michaels 6 excellent FREE tutorial videos for affiliates, you'll find them at the "more tools for affiliates" page.
Please feel free to ask me any questions you like, you're not alone!
Lots os success
Shiraz
