A few things off the top of my head
Lack of focus
Information overload
They jump from one thing to another
Stick to one thing master that and move on to other income streams..

Some very good points in this thread! I think a lot of this does have to do with the knowledge and expectations- however there are a lot of opportunities that take the "get rich quick" marketing route. They go on and on about how it's easy and can be done in a week. If you are new to the internet marketing world- and you see this- RUN. This is not the case. There is a lot of time and dedication that must be put into your home biz before you're going to see any results.
Another good point that was made in this thread is the budget. Yes, you are building a buiness so you have to have a budget that you can work with. So don't over extend yourself in the first couple of months. Find out the options and research what you can do that will fit your budget. There are methods to get free traffic. There are social networks that you can begin building relationships with people and work your way to where your ready to start investing more- but only after your seeing some priofit from you initial investments.
My biggest advise would have to be learn all you can- prepare yourself of what is involved- don't just jump into anything- be prepared to do whatever it takes however long it takes to meet your goal and as stated earlier in this thread- treat this as your business. Prepare yourself mentally and set realistic goals. And when you get discouraged- go back to training and self development for yourself.

Internet newbies have been promised fat checks landing in their bank account and time will be on their side....LOL!
Anybody that believes that there will be money without work is in for a rude awakening. There is a lot of blood, sweat, and tears that goes into building an internet business (or any business for that matter!) It takes time and money.
If you have a plan, you are more than halfway there. If you don't have a plan, you might as well join the rest of the 95% that don't make it.
I have a plan...do you have a plan?
