Yahoo also provides free hosting with a page builder. But it is only a personal page. You cannot do any business. I think it will be same with Google. Those who are serious about building an online business cannot benefit from free hosting.

You can do business on these pages and also you can put adsense codes on it, you can promote affiliate products on these pages, but one thing I accept with you, we can't hangup on free hostings for long term periods, but these pages will help to get some ideas for the newbies to get start to earn mone online, where the investments are NILL

Hmm I did a few sites on free webs left them for months was mainly just an experiment and to get a link to my main sites in their directory
Real basic sites But I was suprised to see both with a pr2 ranking
added a channel fro the ads in google and they are earning me money lol not a lot but If I did a thousand or so of them it would be profitable

Although I agree with you paid hosting is the way to go
But if your strapped for cash and can make around three sites a week add them to a few directories chuck in some affiliate programs a few amazon adds and contextaul adverts like google it will add up and pay for your hosting etc

Microsoft are now offering free hosting and a free domain name if you reside in the US. They are suggesting that they may expand this service outside the US some time soon. I think they are happy with business sites as this is part of their small business program.
You will need to go to their site and do a search.

There are many restriction on free hosting from Microsoft, like you dont get FTP access, etc

I tried to get a domain name with google and it mentioned that it would be "free until the beta period was over" anyone know what the "beta" period is?
