Anyone here deeply know s what is marketing..
you have something of value to offer (product or service ),
the art of presenting the entire package to your target market and capturing their mind share by explaining how your package(product or service ) can solve their problems.
thats it marketing is communicating perfectly to people about what your service is and how can you solve their problem and whats your competitive advantage...
i guess marketing is such a huge concept .. and has so large boundary... it might get a bit tricky to define... and oh yes it has many branches to it , like advertising, direct marketing, relationship marketing.... some other day... we will go into details... your thoughts and advices please....

Marketing is what you do to get a person to the point of sale (face to face, phone call, order page, etc.). A TV ad that brings you into a particular car dealership is a good example.
If your marketing is effective, i.e. right message to the right audience, then the sales effort required will be minimal.

Marketing is ANYTHING you do to get someone interested in YOU or YOUR PRODUCT.
Most people think marketing is JUST selling, but it is a bit more than that. Selling is a crucial part of it though.
Marketing can be helping a stranger in the parking lot or it can be handing someone a business card. Indeed marketing is a very broad term with many parts facets and strategies. ...Which is why you can spend 40k+ to learn how to market from a university...and at the same time spend $0 and your time to learn how to market online or with your own brick and mortar business.
Why do you suppose it is companies spend millions of dollars on heping others? Or on sponsorships, or name recognition. There are many, many, many parts to marketing. ...Many.

Marketing is writing adcopy that explains your product and triggers buyers to buy by pushing their buttons. "selling the sizzle" as Zig Ziglar says.

Marketing is loads more than Selling,, Selling is the last point of contact, just before the sale is made.... thats my thinking ,... Marketing is everything from Educating the Customers, Showing what your services have to offer, Choosing a Target Market, Increasing Customer Relationship... and loads loads more.... what thou say...

Alright, I agree it's getting into the mind of a prospect, and making sales, but I think that's the small picture. I'm new to online marketing, and my strategy is obviously to get the initial sale, and sign people up, building my team.
However, I think it is crucial, if not absolute... to establish a level of prosperity, you have to continue the relationship with your team (on an individual basis), downline, customer, etc... Whereas, the bigger reward comes from teaching others the importance to obtain a higher understanding, and to be able to influence the lessers to "visualize" the big picture, and to concentrate on the residual sales, by training those under them.
Thus, my focus on marketing is building a HUGE following, and converting them into top salesman. Naturally, there will always be the untrainable, but those who want changes in their lives, I feel helping others succeed is the real treasure.
Plus, it becomes fun, more over being work.

When it comes to Internet marketing, I think the key is understanding what the questions are and then providing the answers. If you can get good at this traffic generation never seems to be a problem.

Marketing is connecting with people so they will receive (and hopefully accept) your message.
Online or offline. Marketing takes place anywhere and everywhere.
Politics, business, interpersonal relationships are all areas where marketing takes place. Marketing attempts to convey the ideas of one person to another so they will be accepted.
If you have a job, you market yourself to your boss. If you sell something you market to prospects. If you're a politician you want voters to think you're just like them with the same hopes and dreams for a better world. That's all marketing.

Marketing is a very broad term. It's a superset of several major concepts. It's so broad that it's almost synonymous with the term "business". Long story short, marketing = from concept to sale.
It may be more helpful to discuss terms or concepts such as "advertising" or "sales".
Advertising involves creating a public awareness of a product or service. Information and persuasion are two of the main ingredients involved in advertising. Benefits are often stressed.
Sales involves selling yourself, closing the deal, and/or conducting a transaction.
Of course, there is much more involved but I would need enough space to fill a large college textbook to give the three terms proper justice :)

Succinctly:
-Marketing is the process of acquiring customers and selling to them on an ongoing basis.

Nope. That's copywriting...and only one of the many components of marketing.
Marketing encompasses everything a business does to present itself and its products/services to its publics, the overall intent being to stimulate among target prospects an interest in those products/services. This includes, but is not limited to, advertising, promotions, public relations, philanthropy, and sales representation.
Marketing is no selling per se. It is more akin to packaging.

marketing is everything you do to place your product or service in the hands of potential customers. If business is all about people and money and the art of persuading one to part from the other, then marketing is all about finding the right people to persuade.
