I find blogging to be my best non-SE traffic source. You can also make a few quality Squidoo lenses in your niche. Be sure to submit to directories. Strongest links has a huge list of directories you can submit to.

Article writing works. Also try Hub Pages and Squidoo. you can create pages at these sites and include affiliate links to your products - all for free. Also, submit your Squidoo Lenses, Hub Pages and websites to social bookmarking services like Digg and Stumbleupon - and ping 'em with pingoat and/or pingomatic. If you are unfamiliar with any of these just do a google search.

I agree and disagree at the same time. If you are looking for someone to buy your product then those sites are HUGE waste of time and effort. HOWEVER; if you have use adsense or any other form of ppc items this might not be a bad idea as i've had some limited results.
I'll tell you the only real way i've ever had success from a traffic exchange type program and that was in convincing people that what they were doing wasn't worth their tiem and they could spend it else where. Most often the only people who use those sites are people new to marketing online. It's easy to do, and you can see your hit counter spike on day's you surf(yeeehaaawwww) After about 10 days of this with no results most people begin to question their sanity and their "marketing strategy" as well as the cook who promoted this "damn exchange to me" That's where I step in and say hey, you're upline doesn't know what they are doing...obviously because you're on a traffic exchange... why not take a look at what i'm doing and let me help you.

I still don't think it is profitable, even for Adsense, etc., because most people are only clicking on your site for a limited required amount of time. Very few even read it or consider clicking on the links.
I do see your point though. If you can approach it with a twist like yours, you may be able to catch someone's eye and get a few legitimate visitors. That was a creative idea. Good for you.

I think that alot of whether traffic exchanges are useful depends on your lead capture page. To me great video is eyecatching and the word FREE is priceless. Ive been getting a good stream of traffic from a few exchanges lately. I do think that you cna spend too much time in too many exchanges and waste time. My wife is pregnant at the moment and to gain more credits I let her click through the ads in her spare time. Outsourcing someone to do the same for your business might be a good use of a resource.
Ive been creating new pages to see what works and what doesnt and would love to see the pages that many of you that are using traffic exchanges are using.
One of the greatest ways of creating traffic is forums by far. If you do a google search for Adam Frederick + Coastal Vacations many of my post from here come up. I love the hits I get because of it. Id suggest creating a thread and then blogging it as well. Ive been getting good hits from doing that.
Another way ive been creating free traffic is by giving things away. The free leads links on my signature link have been a big hit. Most MLM'ers are looking for leads so this is a good fit. Im going to create a combination page for my business that will lead off with the free leads first. Ill keep you all posted with the results.
If you would love to network id love to talk. Im offering a free video lead capture page to anyone that can put me in front of their team to market these pages. Im offering a 15% referral fee for all paid referrals. Lets make some money together!!!

Excellent advice on this thread. I use TE's once in a while, as well as PR's. Also, seek out some high-circulation ezines. Very good targeted traffic. Many will offer you free ads. Or, you can often get a top ad or a solo ad for a great price.

ezines are the best. I'm partial to associated content as you get $$$ for your content as well as traffic to your site and they rank pretty high. In google, I can usually get top 5 for at least a month before I need to re-hash. This is without having miollions of backlinks. I backlink on my site as well as on 1 blog with my ezines and still get good rankings.

Great question and the answer is yes. My business is different than most. You see I offer business coaching, internet marketing service, lead generation as well as my paid and free opportunity in Coastal Vacations.
I think we have to really take a look at what business you are trying to generate sales for. Understand that some business are set up to have the person buy when they get to your site and some have longer sales cycles. They are more relationship sales. The goal is really to get people to your information. What you do with the traffic after you get it really separates the people in internet marketing.
So to answer your question directly yes. But im a different breed than most. I really think that every business is different but the one common thread is that we all need customers. The more the better. If sales is all a numbers game id rather have 10% of 1000 than 10% of 100.
In the past few weeks ive really seen that if you have a free product or a suite of free things you can build a client list to market other products to in the future. Why not use free traffic and advertising to give away free things. I see that as a smart business decision. Then when you make some money selling your end product reinvest money into more exposure. Just a thought.

Quoting: CSGWAHM One thing that really works is just promoting YOU, not your business per say. Press releases are a great way to get free traffic, too. Don't be afraid to get creative! I've work in the media & I'm looking at doing press releases too help promote my business.

Has VIDEO been mentioned? I don't think it has. Wow....I cannot think of a better medium for totally free advertising. I guess some people are scared to death to do a video. I was the first time I did. But now, I get traffic 24/7 from people that already feel like they know me...they like me...and trust me.
Good thread. Peace

Forums, Articles, Free Classifieds are many ways of free advertising. But I am sure paid advertising will get you the right traffic to you.

There are a ton of ways to use free traffic sites. Social networks, free ads, free marketing, free traffic exchanges just to name a few. But if you don't know the basics of marketing, then it will be very tough. I like press releases and social networks.
