I agree with getagrip. There definitely is a learning curve, but I don't think you have to wait 5 months before you begin making money. The first thing to do would be to begin promoting Wealthy Affiliate itself. If you can make just 2 sales a month, then you're covering the cost of your membership.
Another way to look at it would be to join and work your way through the 8 week action plan. That way you would only be committing to two months. If you're really industrious, you could try to work through the 8 week action plan even faster.
Either way, $29 buys you the opportunity to check out the resources for yourself, and ultimately, your own evaluation of the resources is far more valuable than any review you will read online.
If you're relatively inexperienced, I don't think you can really go wrong with joining Wealthy Affiliate. Just don't do what I did. I joined WA and then never actually started working through the material for over a year! LOL! Someone made some good cash off of my membership while I was distracted with other things.

Wealthy Affiliate looks really impressive I'm thinking of joining when my new business is up and running, I do have a understanding of advertising & how too target a particular niche market as I do work in radio & the sale of advertising is important too keep me in a job.
I'm looking at a business which can target different markets but at the same time you are providing a single product, jameszz I know that the monthly fees can be annoying but think of it like a bank fee or a direct debit for your Internet access.

I've been a member of WA for about a year now and have learned a lot from the program, I joined before they even had free web hosting and an easy site builder, (site rubix) I used their link cloaker a lot. I have never promoted WA. I don't like to promote in the IM niche at all. It's a little too "cannabalistic" also like peeing in your own bed, or so it seems for me. Not to insult anyone - that's just my personal take on it - we all have our opinions. The whole IM niche is pretty cutthroat though, (although profitable).
If you are a beginner WA may help you a lot. I can recommend it. However, my personal goal now is to get off WA. Once you learn how to be successful with your own techniques that work, $30 a month becomes a little too expensive for hosting, cloaking and a web site builder - all of which you can get for free or very cheap.
Peace

I agree if you have a understanding of advertising and targeting niche markets then it's not really worth it but for beginners it's a good way too start.

I agree that Wealthy Affiliate is great for beginners, but its also great for seasoned internet marketers. One important thing to consider is that the world of affiliate marketing is constantly changing.
The great thing about Wealthy Affiliate is that it is frequently updated with new resources to keep you on top of the latest trends in internet marketing, and you can also stay on top of things through the Wealthy Affiliate forum.
So, if you want to join Wealthy Affiliate for only a couple of months to get your feet wet and learn as much as you can about what it takes to make money online in that short time period, then great. But many people decide to stay on board, not only to stay on top of the contant changes in the internet marketing world, but also to help out others.
My friend Thad is a Wealthy Affiliate member who is earning over $500 a day. Technically speaking, he doesn't any longer NEED to be a member of Wealthy Affiliate, but he stays around not just to stay on top of things in the internet marketing world, but to help other Wealthy Affiliate members out. That is what seperates Wealthy Affiliate from most other programs out there. Its not just about learning what you can about making money online and then bailing out, its about helping others succeed once you become successful.

Actually, you don't have to spend any money - Wealthy Affiliate will teach you online promotional techniques which you can implement without spending any money.
As far as your second question is concerned, each person is different in terms of how long it took them to earn a significant amount money online. In my case, I made my first sale online about two years ago...and so far this month, I have earned over $1,400 online, and the month isn't even over yet!
I've read some incredible testimonies in the Wealthy Affiliate Genereal Success Forum where one person is earning $10,000 a month, and another person who hasn't been at Wealthy Affiliate very long is earning $700 a day - I've got screen captures of both in my video.
However, I don't want to give you the impression that making money online is easy - it takes a lot of hard work, can be very challenging at times, and often takes a lot of trial and error. Of course, hard work can pay off, and a lot of people who have joined Wealthy Affiliate have been able to quit their day jobs, but I will say that internet marketing is not for everyone.

Hope this helps and Have a great day! -Edward Brown

The people are brutal and mean? Edward, I don't know what in the world you are talking about. Believe me, after spending some time over on the digitalpoint forums, I have a new appreciate for the Wealthy Affiliate forum.
Eva, I have a couple of videos out on Youtube that are designed to answer questions for those that are considering joining Wealthy Affiliate. If you go to youtube and search for "wealthy affiliate for beginners" you will find them. Take a look at those and see if they answer your questions.
Dave

You are full of it - Wealthy Affiliate has one of the most helpful and friendliest forums around. I don't know what your motives are, but ANYONE who has been a member of Wealthy Affiliate will tell you that your statement is way off base.
I challenge anyone who is reading this to find out for themselves, and come back here to report your experiences with Wealthy Affiliate. Even people who quit Wealthy Affiliate often post goodbye notes in the forum and THANK everyone for their help and support and say how awesome Wealthy Affiliate is...and many of these people come back to Wealthy Affiliate! That would NEVER happen if they didn't think Wealthy Affiliate is a friendly place!

Edward,
I was just about to sleep but I can't let this comment pass. I am also a member of WA and I could attest to the "brotherhood" that is shared in that community.
I have been a member for 5 months now and I have never experienced any rejection from the members no matter how silly my questions were especially when I was just starting out in this business.
And from the 5 months I've been there, I can say that I haven't read any post that is "brutal and mean". The people there are all very willing to help in one way or the other. Tutorials are being given for free, videos, ebooks, tips and tricks that some "gurus" would charge for at least $7 per tip.
One simple example was when I was trying to put up my first website and had difficulties due to lack of technical knowledge (I am a medical technologist so I know nothing about websites) but they have all been egging newbies to learn to put up a site because it's for their own good.
One member, helped me through YM chat, and almost literally held me by the hand on what I should do step-by-step. And everytime I hit a technical wall, there is always a helping hand, a video or a tutorial ready in the forums when I ask.
And that is just one example of the many silly tech stuff that I needed help from not to mention the marketing stuff. And again that is just one person, me. Imagine, a lot of me there who are asking help and who's getting it.
This has been a long post because I really do take offense for the "brutal and mean" remark to the people who have helped me to get to where I am right now.
I do hope that whoever made you any "brutal and mean" remark during your days in WA is no longer there so nobody else would experience the same thing, if what you say is true.
Work Hard, Play Hard!

I agree. I am an active Wealthy Affiliate Member, and have always felt completely comfortable in the WA forum, even when I was a beginner. A few days ago, I made a very helpful and kind post in a large very well known marketing forum and the vultures tried to eat me for supper! A man was very discouraged, and asked for help and inspiration to pick up himself and get going again. I sugegsted he watch The Secret DVD and my post was torn apart. I cannot believe anyone would have nothing better to do than tear up that movie. This never, ever would happen in the WA forum. I read posts daily at WA, of beginners who ask basic questions. The more experienced members always help out in a friendly and respectful manner. Perhaps you unfortunately read that one in a million negative post..there is one in every crowd. I assure you, the rest of the forum is a gold mine of helpful information based upon the real experiences of successful marketers. I hope you will reconsider. Have a great day, Victoria

Its sad, but that does happen in a lot of the "well known" internet marketing forums...you simply won't see that at Wealthy Affiliate.

before coming in here I was planning on purchasing Profit Lance, but since I like to confuse myself I read through all the posts in this topic. I think I might go with this one, any advice?
Thank You Merrie

Wealthy Afilliate is really the way to go. I struggled for a while until I joined and really started to learn what I needed to know to start earning money online.
I would honestly recommend Wealthy Affiliate to my own mother if she wanted to learn to make money online.
To your success,
Michael
