To make a livable income online through affiliate programs do you need to have more than one? Or can it be done with just one program. Thanks

It helps to start off by promoting one specific niche area - it can be a mistake to spread yourself too thin too soon. Once you get more experience, you can expand into other areas.

It depends what you are refering to.

If you meant an affiliate program as an online training course such as Wealthy Affiliate, ProfitLance, Rich Jerk and so on... then no, each of those programs show you directions for your online endavours although they all have different costs they will mostly teach you everything you need to know in order to make money online.

If you're refering to online campaigns, then as Getagrip said, as a beginner it would be best to concentrate only on one single campaign. It may take a while to make a living online but from my personal expirience it is definitely possible, patience is the key.

You should probably focus on one in the beginning but I would certainly say work several as you gain the experience.

If your product is expensive, pays a decent commission and sells like crazy you could live off of one product. However this is an extremely unlikely scenario, especially for a new affiliate. Big ticket items tend to be slow movers, especially in today's economy.

When you are first starting out with affiliate programs, how many you promote really depends on how your site is structured. Some of the most successful sites review three or more products, and provide detailed product comparisons.

Product comparisons are great because they encourage the reader to become involved and make their own decision. Comparisons also give you the opportunity to be more factual and less aggressive in your sales approach. You simply present the benefits of each product and let the reader take control of what to buy.

When I first started I made the mistake of only thinking about how much money I could make. However I think this showed in my writing and I wasn't making very many sales. I find that the more I focus on providing facts and valuable content in my pages, the more money I make.

    Cheers

    Hi manudevil20,

It depends upon your online marketing education level. Make sure you get a good education first, then build your skills, then try your hand at making money.

Once the above list is fulfilled, you can join as many affiliate programs as you like. It's best not to promote a product or program that you aren't familiar with or it won't convert well.

Your audience expects you to recommend these things based on your personal experience and approval of them.

If you need an education, read this forum for a few days to gain some basic knowledge. After you're done, you'll know what to do next.

Feel free to ask questions after you've done some research.

Depends on the product, but it is always better to work with multiple affiliate programs. If there is a problem with one product, your income will not get affected.

Why doesn't anybody just give a straight answer to the question?

To make a "livable" income online through affiliate programs, most likely, YES, you ARE going to need more than one.

That's not to say that there's no one out there making a livable income off of one product, but for us average Joes, Yes, more than one affiliate program is in order.
