YTB is a reputable company in everything ive read about it. Many people will say something is bad or a scam if they dont make money in it. Thats typical on the internet. You have to do your own research and more importantly you have to work at it. I have many businesses that I presently run and some arent as successful as others but thats all up to me to change it around.

What I want to do is offer all of you YTB people a FREE joint advertising venture. If you are interested please contact me. It entails have a free lead capture page and offering an incentive for people joining your YTB venture. I look forward to talking with many of you soon.

I was recently invited by a friend to attend one of these YTB seminars. The bottom line is that it would 1083.00 the first 12 months. As I thought how I would at least recoup this money, here are my thoughts:

    1. The web site travel commissions: Not clear to me what the percentages are or how long and by what means the money is received. It appars to me that just passively establishing a web site and passing out business cards may be a tough way to make a buck given all the other options for arranging travel out there. You are basically competing with Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, etc. I guess how much in bookings via the web site equals 1083.00 if one were to just go this route.

    2. The Travel Compensation: I suppose if you already were planning some travel, you could use the web site and maybe even some sort of YTB credentials to receive a discount on travel packages, room, rental cars, upgrades etc. I am not one to arrange travel based on possible comps. So how many trips would it take to have comps that equal 1083.00?

    3. Tax Breaks: There are a lot of IRS regs on the requirements to take advantage of this. I would have to get a lot smarter on what those are. If I find out that by spending 1083.00 in one year I could get tax relief that is more than that, then a definite advantage.

    4. Recruiting other RTA's: I personally have a problem with this. I am not the type that would go out and do this. Therefore if the basic premise of the company is that the most money is made by doing this, it is not for me. Unless in items 1 and 2 above their is an advantage to doing so.

One may say I am aiming low, but have a well paying job, nearing retirement, and just looking at different options out there.

This is from 2005!! Don't you think that by now if this company was operating illegally the BBB would have shut them down by now. Instead they are growing exponentially, just like travel will. They are also offering Medical Benefits to those that are members.

Below are the words of one of the top tax experts in the country...
    Ron Mueller

like i said... you had better know what you are dealing with., YTB won't tell you the full story

In my last issue of Tax Tips, I pointed out
that business trips on cruise ships cannot
be deductible if the ship is registered in
a country other than the U.S.

I thought one or two American flag carriers
worked out of Hawaii, but I may have been
    wrong. Astute reader Monique Schaefers,
    formerly Merchant Marine, replied, "American
Hawaii Cruise lines was the ONLY American-
registered cruise ship in the Hawaiian islands,
but they are no longer in business. I do NOT
believe there really are ANY American registered
    cruise ships anymore."

I joined YTB in Dec06 and recently dropped out. Of course this business is not for all, but I was very disappointed as I had had phone calls with the upline big guns and was impressed with the idea of collecting commission on all bookings, not recruiting or selling.

That was misleading! The commission you are promised to receive is NOT commission on the total booking. YTB takes out their share of the COMMISSIONABLE VOLUME..note the difference in terms which I was mislead about. For example if a booking was $1000, and you were promised 10% of the booking as commission, what you will receive is 10% of the commisisonable volume which varies from booking to booking. You could receive a disappointing $10 depending from the base booking. I received less than $40 for about 5 bookings made on my sight. I spent approx $800 on YTB and gained about $40.

Without a doubt, the emphasis is on RECRUITING. i don't believe you can survive with YTB unless you recruit recruit recruit and recruit!!!!
Don't be fooled. The terminology misled me into believing cash was coming. Besides, the prices were not competitive with other travel agencies and for most of my target travel market, booking directly with the airlines proved cheaper at the time.

I believe this is a pyramid unless the Attorney Generals office says otherwise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thirdworldman- I am thinking about joining ytb. I went to BBB and every complaint was resolved to the BBB's satisfaction. Most had to do with travelers getting refunds. Additionally I know many people in the "traditional" bricks & mortar travel bus and it seems they are getting killed by online travel companies. Probably 75% of those that were in it are either out or doing an online travel bus themselves. They told me that they only made a couple of dollars on plane & hotel bookings too. Also, that the real money is in the cruise sales. So, it sounds like you have to have real expectations- hard work will get you real returns.

I also recently booked a trip and shopped it to the majors, priceline, travelocity and orbitz and the price was identical to two of them and cheaper by 5 bucks than orbitz. Seems fairly competitive to me.

Why has no one mentioned this?

    Valued RTAs:

"YTB is pleased to announce our best financial quarter ever, followed by a highly successful event with Carnival Cruise Lines just last week. Some of you have expressed concern about the cancellation of our IATA/IATAN accreditation. We want to assure you that this does not, in any way, affect the ability of YTB or its RTAs to sell travel and be paid commissions from the sale of travel. We are actively working with IATA/ IATAN and our legal counsel to substantiate that YTB meets or exceeds IATA's/ IATAN's regulations."

    Is YTB still in business?
  20. adcommike

    adcommike New Member

Yes, YTB is still in business.

I would like to take some time here to speak about some of the topics in this forum.

Quite frankly every business in the country has negative postings on the web. The addage of "You can't please everyone everytime" is true. Some people's expectations are beyond belief. YTB is a business. As with any business it requires WORK!!! If you are not willing to work, your business profits will not magically appear. MLM is by far not for everyone, but for some people it is. I personally hate talking to my friends and family so I don't. I believe with MLM using more conventional means of marketing is the answer. I may get Shot for that remark but it is true.

The benefits outweigh the downfalls and YTB if worked right is an outstanding business op. It is just like anything else You Get Out Of It Exactly What You Put Into It. If you started a sandwich shop you would have to do various advertising to get customers to come in to try your food. The same principles apply here.

As far as being competitive I will give you an example of something that happened to me a few years ago. I was looking online for a trip to Cancun. Constantly going back and forth between Funjet, MLT, and Apple. The rates finally dropped down to what I was willing to pay. After much thought and consideration, and trying to wait it out to see if I could get it any cheaper I booked my trip to paradise. 4 days later they were all 15-20 percent cheaper, even who I booked with. Where I am essentially going with this is YTB is a large booking engine, planning to be the largest by 2011 and actuall are now on target for late 2010. The rules of supply and demand are in effect here just like they are in the food and auto industries, and virtually anything else this world has to offer.

As far as stock pricing goes I don't know much about that, but I have been watching a VERY shaky stock market over the last few years. Could that just possibly have any thing to do with the stock prices

I would love to hear some replies.
