Ok... Pet Peeve here but one that needs to be addressed especially to new marketers. We all know that one way of building back-links is by leaving comments on other do-follow blogs and sites. But if you are going to do that, do it responsibly.

Just had someone post a comment to my blog on my "Easy Affiliate Marketing" post. Well, he leaves this comment about how he doesn't believe IM is all that easy and how much work is involved. Thing is ..if he had bothered to read the article I wrote rather than just the headline, he would have seen that I wrote about the ummmm work involved. Now I let his comment go through, with his link but not without making a reply to his comment .

Leaving comments on blogs and forum is an excellent way to build back-links and generate traffic. But do it professionally like a business owner that you are trying to be. Offer something of value to the community or niche you are involved in. If not you come off more as just another spammer who will be here today and gone tomorrow.

Your work at home business is YOUR business. Every comment, post, link or article placed by you is a reflection of you and your business. Keep these things in mind next time you post a comment on a blog or make a post in a thread. Just slapping up links for the sake of doing it will not get you the results you are looking for. Trust me when I say this...you will get far more traffic and far more conversions off of one well written or thought out post than you will slapping up thousands of links.

    /end rant/

Usually negative comments on a blog is not a bad thing. Sure you want positive comments but in this situation, I would leave his comments and reply back to him.

I don't believe there is an easy way to make money. Just like anything else, it takes work. Saying affiliate marketing is easy is like looking at an established business and saying it is easy for them to make money. But you don't see the years of hard work that got them to that point. There is certainly money to be made in affiliate marketing, but for the most part, it is the people that treat it like building a business and work hard at it that are the ones making the money.

While I appreciate your comment EBullet, it would probably benefit you to actually read the entire article rather than just the headline so you could make a more useful comment and leave your link next time. Yes affiliate marketing does require much work as I pointed out in the article very clearly. It also requires more useful work when building back-links to your site by leaving comments on do-follow blogs. Do yourself a favor and work instead of just searching for blogs with keywords and bring something useful to the community. The "work" in affiliate marketing is not about just leaving arbitrary comments. It's about building your business through relationship with others in your niche community and developing trust with your customers. The sooner you realize the true nature of the "work" involved, perhaps you will come to realize just how easy affiliate marketing can be.

The response to the comment is just being truthful and the readers need to know what is really going on, so what if they don't make another comment who wants a comment from someone who isn't paying attention to your writing anyway.

I absolutely agree that people should read before they write.

Great Post! Ken, I agree Ken that you comments are a reflection of you and your business. Think about what you are putting out there. You need to give before you receive.

I tend to get a lot of comments that are a 1 line compliment to the post, which I think is sometimes good to have, but at the same time it doesn't provide any value whatsoever.

I completely agree with what you are saying and I actually wrote a similar response to one of the comments on my blog but I actually ended up removing the whole post.

I would never leave a low quality response to anything unless I want a low quality image of my brand, just like you were saying, Ken.

    Thanks!
