Most affiliate marketing programs use cookies for tracking conversions, but many computer users delete cookies after they finish surfing. So does the company selling products through affiliate marketing get free sales?

Technically they do get "free" sales if cookies are deleted, but I think a lot of people don't delete the cookies as often as you think - you should see my friend's computer!

    Hi pcwork,

I'd say that it's only a minority of users that routinely clear their caches. I'm always helping friends and family with their computers and they almost never clear their cookies. It's the first thing I do for them when I arrive.

I wouldn't worry about it happening very often.

A lot of people don't even know what a cookie is they still think it's something you eat. I didn't know either, until I started IM.

lol - I think you are right. I am always amazed at how few of my friends know what internet cookies are.[IMG]
