    Hi Everyone,

I recently published a post called

How To Get Your New Blog Crawled By Google ASAP!

and I would just like to add to that, take it one step further, and apply it not only to your blog but your websites.

I recently added a link directory to my website and wanted to get it crawled ASAP, so I added a link to the directory on my blog. I then published a new post on my blog, causing Google to crawl it, and in turn had my new link directory indexed in less than 2 hours [IMG]

    Yes, very sweet [IMG]

I've heard of some people waiting for weeks or even months to get crawled by Google, so here is a nice solution to start the process.

So read How To Get Your New Blog Crawled By Google ASAP!, and then apply what you've read on this one.

We'd all love to hear the results, so let us know how long it takes for Google to crawl your site using this method!

    Cheers!

Hey Philip - do you use the Gogle Alerts tool to notify you when your sites get indexed?

No, I just Google search the URL using the "site:" modifier.

    For example, search for: "site:yousite.com"

If Google has crawled it, it will show up this way. It may take a little while for the cached snapshot to show up.

    Hi Philip,

That's a great example of how the internet - a collection of interconnected computer networks - works and how spiders find (and index) websites.

And that's why it works so well :)

A spider crawls one site and follows all of the links that it stumbles upon - including both internal and external links.

It reports back to it's base of operations every so often and sends the meta information to the search engine or directory index.

The information gets processed on the back end. According to a programmed and ever-evolving algorithm, the information becomes a candidate for indexing.

Any information that meets the qualifications for indexing gets ranked and listed. The list becomes available to those who enter phrases into the directory or search engine text box.

The information gets displayed in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) and searchers are able pour over the results and decide which sites to visit according to the appeal and relevancy of their chosen search phrase.

You've created a nice add-on to your indexing method, congrats.

I use this method to get my pages indexed quickly. About 2 hours is my best time for getting a new page indexed.

I like using articles to draw more traffic from the search engines.

I also like to leave comments on blogs. I use Bloglines to follow a hundred or so blogs.

I search Google for a specific keyword phrase, after writing a post on that same topic, and comment on some of those blogs pointing them back to the internal page I created on my blog.

The comment doesn't have to be nearly as long as an article I would publish on an article directory but it works great for getting more target traffic.

I really like ideas that are as simple as the one suggested here, especially since the simple solutions are the ones that most people overlook. Now I just need to finish setting up my blog and try it.
