Getting Backlinks the Spiritual (Easy) Way

In a nutshell, it all sums up to this: Focus on the content and forget about backlinks.

Isn't this what people have been doing during the early Internet days. They used to build good content and backlinks automatically used to follow. They probably didn't even know what back links were.

It's only after the advent of Google and the growing popularity of search engines that people started thinking of SEO/traffic, and that's when Internet started turning into a place of crappy websites than a place of useful information that it used to be.

All spiritual texts say this: Focus on your work and forget about the results (fruit). This is the path to happiness, peace and liberation. Do the opposite and it's a surefire recipe for misery and frustration. When you focus too much on the result, you think a lot and it hampers your creativity. When your creativity is blocked, you cannot succeed.

When you apply this analogy to getting backlinks, the content is your work and back links is the fruit. When you put your focus on building content, the results (backlinks) will automatically follow. However after the advent of SEO, we have been focusing on link building (the fruit) rather than our work (building content). That's why you are so miserable and frustrated with our efforts.

So just start focusing on building quality content and forget about SEO and getting backlinks.

    Do you agree with me?

THANK YOU Vishal - that is exactly what I needed to hear this morning.

    I mean - "TO THE T" - kinda stuff.[IMG]

I had been getting so frustrated with the whole backlinks thing and decided, what the heck, I am going back to adding pages to my site... and then I clicked over here and found this.

    wow.

Personally, I think building contents and backlinks should be done concurrently.

    tis true,

linkbuilding is annoying simply because it plays a big role in what ranks higher. What if you have really good content but no advertising budget and no knowledge of backlinks?? then you're screwed. Thats sad.

Having quality content is a big factor to get higher rankings. It lessens the amount of bounce rate that you are getting. It means the visitors stays long because of the content that you have and not just bunch of links. Content is always the king right?

This is an excellent way to reduce resistance too.
    I like
    this Vishal, very much.

When this one struggles, the results are not as hoped for.

After a peaceful break, inspiration and energy come forth, producing content from my heart.

You can search DIGG, and pull up the stories that have been DUGG the most, and find most are very creative.

The same with Squidoo Lenses Of The Day.

    I love the Universe!

I agree. Nothing breaks my heart more than to write 2-3 articles in a day and add them to the blog and not get much "juice" out of it. Whereas I can comment on 2-3 blogs with my weblink and one sentence and google bumps up my site. It isn't right but it is reality. I wonder if all hope is lost for the future.

Google may bump you initially but the ranking will not stay forever. Google keeps track of the rate at which your site has been getting backlinks. If it's only during initial phase, then it can decide for sure that its SEO efforts. It makes sense. If a site has been consistently getting backlinks on a regular basis, it does give an indication that the content is worthwhile. And that's what happens when you create excellent content. You keep getting backlinks on a regular basis. Yes, you have to do that initial work of getting the word out, but that should be the end on it. Then you should allow your content to do the work.

    I agree, Vishal.

It's just like you to show how a spiritual concept can have practical application here on the physical plane. "As above, so below." Point well made! [IMG]

Vishal P. Rao: When you focus too much on the result, you think a lot and it hampers your creativity.
One can easily get caught up in anticipating the results and totally miss the simple details required to deliver those results. It's another way of cautioning against counting your chickens before they hatch!

W.R.T -> SEO Experiments - My Top 10 Point of View

    The tough part
However this doesn't work all the time.

How can I create a quality website that outbeats my competition?
My competitor runs his website with 12 content writers, I am just the only writer..! How can i outbeat his quality?
How can I create a website if I am not that much familiar of what I would like to write?

Vishal - Your POV is correct if a person starts a website for passion and waits patiently. But businesses can not run that way. TIME IS MONEY AND MONEY IS TIME here

If the ground rule set by you is the right one for every one, why does TV and advertisement exists. Why can't companies create right product and wait it to get famous. Why do they spend tonns of money on advertisements?? Why do they anchor acter and actresses?

So, it is all what a person want to achieve. Now internet marketing is all about content creation, link building, competitor snapping etc., Without all these it would be difficult to survive.

    Here is my example
    * I found a niche where I can mint some money.
*So I created a website for that with zero knowledge on it.
*Later I gained some knowledge but not enough to create a killer content as Vishal did in the case of php form.
    * So I hired a content writer and developed contents.
    *I did vigorous link building.
*Now after 4 months, I got PR3 and I am getting $200 per month from adsense.

Without link building the whole project would have been messed. Since I am not able to find natural link resources, I have to do link building to survive.

So I want to revise our Vishal's wordings as follows.
    * Build killer content/service
    * Do some initial link building and continue the process.
    * Forget it! - Nope. Continue link building activity, watch your competitor.
    * On the other hand continue adding value to your website.

Unfortunately I would not prefer to patronize you Vishal. These are the words that I learnt from many guys and from my self experience. And I am the only one to vote No on the voting

    Sincerly

You are absolutely right Sam! It's about Money!

However, the point I'm trying to convey is not of making money. I never mentioned that in my post. The essence of my post was to achieve happiness, peace and creativity. Money can make you happy but it can never make you contented and happy. It's what you do to earn that money ultimately brings you happiness and contentment. Trust me. I have seen money and I have seen a lack of it. You might buy all the goodies with the money you earn but it will never give your true happiness. It's just a fleeting pleasure.

And I wouldn't be surprised if you reject this theory. You have to experience it [IMG]

I agree with Vishal. The internet is all about content. Concentrate on more and more quantity of quality content and the rest will come.
Don't put the fruit before the tree so to speak. Peace.

Absolutely Vishal. I wouldn't dare to reject these golden experienced words [IMG]

Yes, money can never bring happiness. I still have the e-mail where a guy e-mailed that my website has helped him a lot. I also have a copy of my first check [IMG] It is our passion to build great websites for the use of fellow guys and be happy seeing people getting benefited out of it. +1 to your thoughts.

But when we talk about backlinks - I have a different opinion if I understood your post correctly. Not every website can get natural links as your website got. Yes, we all intend to build great websites, but at some point of space we miss out and there comes the role of backlinks. To be ahead of competition and to rank well we need to build backlinks in my opinion. Obviously spiritual way of backlinks can occur only in all juncture.

I think I have made my point correctly. If I am wrong please teach me [IMG] I am always open to thoughts...!

Sam, I think you missed what I was trying to convey through my post. What I want to convey through my post is that when you create excellent content, backlinks will be built automatically. Now if you create sloppy websites, you definitely need to make building backlinks a part of your routine. But then, when you make building backlinks a part of your routine, you put a plug on your creativity, because you are focusing on the results. It might be OK if you want to continue this for a while, but if you intend to make this your lifestyle, I can guarantee that you may not experience real satisfaction and happiness in your life. There will be material pleasure but not contentment.

This analogy can also be applied to money. The money is the result here and when you focus only on the money aspect, you can never live your life completely.

There are many ways to make money, but only one way to happiness and contentment - follow your passion. Yes we need money and we cannot ignore it. But at the same time, don't ignore your passion and starve your soul. Try to bring a balance if you cannot completely follow your passion. If you build 5 websites for money, create one on subject your are passionate about.

The last point is well said ji. I am doing that. Created some niche websites and had success on that. Now I am creating a blog to help people improve their communication skills. Especially people in India need this. Of course this is my passion [IMG]

I totally agree! Every SEO guru says "Content is King".

Gathering backlinks is very important however if - and only if - you wish to make some money through your site sooner rather than later or if at all.

But if you just want to let people know what you would like to tell them, then I would not bother doing all the work for backlinks - the people will come in due time. [IMG]

Backlinks are really important to getting your traffic from Google. It really speeds up the whole process.

For example, I took a new site to the top of 30 million results (broad search) lately, and it has been heavily focused on backlinking strategies.

Of course, content is king. But you are competing webmasters who have content and backlinking strategies. They either are super productive and are able to get backlinks on a daily basis or they outsource it.
