Is GoDaddy still the cheapest service to host a website?
Still? I don't think GoDaddy has ever been the cheapest.
There are plenty of hosts offering more bang for the buck.
GoDaddy offers free limited hosting with a name purchase,
but that does not make it the cheapest for business uses.
By the time you buy all the add-ons it will cost way more.
$3-$5 a month will get you all the bells and whistles elsewhere.
That should include auto-responders and unlimited bandwidth.
Look around and compare what is included.
Is there any you recommend?
Naturally I would recommend the one in my sig BUT
the majority on this forum have chosen HostGator.
There is a thread here specifically with that question:
It has a lot of recommendations from other members.
We host with Site5 and Hostnine - both are great.
I host my websites with Host Gator and GVO and I have to honestly say that the support of GVO is much better plus they are cheaper!
Really?? Have you forgotten that HostGator has LIVE support 24/7/365? And that you can get Hostgators Baby plan for less than $5 a month?
When you have a site making substantial money for you and something goes wrong (hacking, file corruption etc) you want support NOW. On the one occasion my site got hacked Hostgators support was immediate, right on track and the problem was solved in record time.
And, let's faced it, if you're unwilling to invest $5 a month into your business you should probably resign yourself to having a job for the rest of your life. (Yuck)
I have been using HostGator for about four years now and love it.
I will have to check out HostGator. I've been using GoDaddy and thought I was getting a great product for a great price but seems I may have been mistaken! Regardless, I haven't had any issues with it.
I would also recommend Hostgator they where the first hosting company I have used. I went away but I will never do that again. They are 5* service.
