How I have been earning money this month

    Hi everyone,

I have been having lots of success on my blog this month and I attribute it to a few things. I thought I would share them with you and hopefully they will give you some ideas.

1st I make sure my content is good. No one will care how good your site looks if there is no good content on it. I learned that the hard way when we started getting traffic but no-one stayed!

2nd I advertise through sites directly. There are a lot of sites that will let you advertise on them for $10 a month or less. It is a good way to get started and will bring in traffic.

3rd I haven't been afraid of change. I just check to see what is working through my analytics each day and whatever is working I do more of. This brings more people to my site and helps me to make my site better.

I hope these tips help. I have been doing well this month and I want everyone else to do well too

Thanks for sharing. How much traffic do you get every month?

Thanks for the comments everyone. My website I launched on the 15th of the month gets about an average of 100 to 300 hits a day. Its not a ton but I am happy since it is kind of my baby! My hits have been consistently going up and so far my highest day has been about 798 hits!

    Hi Jenny,

Have you tracked the percentage of paid traffic vs. organic traffic?

How about sales? What is the sales conversion percentage rate for each type of traffic?

What is your average PPC ROI?

I'd imagine you would have that all calculated by now since it's been two weeks.

How much have you spent on PPC?

It's helpful to track and adjust based on results for a while until you've fine-tuned your campaigns. I'd hate to see you lose your shirt on PPC like most people do. You really have to know what you are doing before you dive in.

I wish you well and welcome to our forum :)

To be honest I am kind of a tight-wad so I haven't paid for hardly any traffic. I spend about $60 total on advertising, but the majority have been coming from other sites that like my content. I consider it a great blessing of course that in a matter of a couple of weeks we are consistently making money every day. We don't charge for anything though so any money that comes in is from adsense. Any advice on if I should charge? We are still so new I can't imaging putting a registration fee on there.

    Hi Jenny,

If you feel that you offer premium value, especially if it's unique, you might consider charging membership fees after one year of having the site up an establishing the said reputation. It's best to error on the side of caution.

    Greetings from Australia.

I am a newbie to this excellent forum, but I'm not a newbie to the
internet as I have been online since 1994.

We have made a small, albeit stuttered, income form my various websites over the years, mainly to local or national (Aus) clients with our service.

We are long retired, I am an aged pensioner and my wife receives
a total disability pension, so we do have a base income that keeps
the wolf from the door, we are also fortunate to have no debts.

We have recently tried an affiliate (Diet), that after a month of posting all over the internets search engines etc, have not made one sale.

I see many links (even in this forum) to sites that state they can make you tens of thousands of dollars, some in 30 days, all of them
tell you how they have made millions, yet they want to charge as
much as $100 to tell you how easy it is to do the same.

Then comes the software, ebook, PDF, CD or DVD that has so much
information so as to create 'Internet Overload' in ones brain!.

Having said all of the above, can I ask the forum members, if they,
or anyone they know personally, have achieved these promised
results after buying into these programmes.

Thanks for reading, I hope your success is greater than ours!!.

    Hi Westerly,

Welcome to the forum! I'm in Australia, too, far north Queensland. [IMG]

No, I don't know anyone who made heaps of money in 30 days, etc. If you had a system that would make you tens of thousands in 30 days, would you sell it to other people for $100?

Me neither. [IMG] Don't allow your common sense to go out the window no matter how good the copywriting. You can make money online, but it is generally a slow process that starts with a foundation of learning and building before you reap the benefits.

If you can hang in there through the learning and building stage, you will get to the benefit reaping stage.

    Hi Westerly,

Welcome aboard. Your caution is well-placed. You've been online for much longer than most. It's always good to run across someone that's been both into computers for a long while and been online since the dawn or pre-dawn of the internet.

I bought my first PC back in 1987 and I've been online since the DOS days - before the dawn of the WWW. I remember using my low speed modem and connecting to bulletin boards (early versions of directories and early versions of "forums").

We've all been burned and who wants to go through that once again? You are right, most programs are BS. A big part of the game is to wade through the outdated information as well as misinformation. It's not an easy task, it is very time consuming, but it must be done.

Happywife is right. Put the horse before the cart by learning well the basics of online marketing. Slow and steady wins the race. It takes months just to have a minimal understanding of the basics. Perhaps you already have that but if you don't, I suggest spending some time studying the basics.

It's good to read forums, blogs, and websites. This is a great forum to pour over. It may be helpful to spend a few days reading some threads. That should at least give you an idea of what is involved, some details, and what to investigate further. You'll also get a feel for what programs seem to work for folks.

Once you've done that just start asking questions. You'll receive a lot of friendly assistance.

Thank you all for the welcome, much appreciated as are your comments.

You can be assured I do not buy into these, so called, wonderful schemes that are offered, at my age (nearly 70) I'm a bit to long in
the tooth for 'fairy tales', but thanks for the warning, it is always
    well worth while being reminded.

In the mid 90's I could get top ranking in Altavists then later in
Google and that was with a with a geocities website, but these
days it is difficult to get in the top 20.

These days Google ignores meta tags due to the misleading words
that were intended to draw searchers of the term 'Smithsonian' to their porn website, so now as you say you have to work your way
up the 'ranking' ladder with working forward and backward links,
the more website or directories with your link the better.

So if anyone would care to sned me their link I will be happy to do
    the same.

Well done for having some awesome success!

Well it depends on what your looking to do. You have obviously don every well in earning traffic which is perhaps the most important element of internet business, it means you can dulgde into any internet business sector and do relatively well!

An idea from me, if you are good at writing, you may want to write some product reviews of affiliate products (on a seperate website though!) and sell them on your page via affiliate links. The idea is that u sell but without actually being in the customers face, instead you review products they are after. You dais u generate almost over 150 hits a day, and more and growing, so if you could get even 3 of these many people buying a day, you can make very good money [IMG] .. just my thoughts
