OMG!! I've been researching this area for over 6 months and have found nothing but scams.
Last year I was hurt at work and need to work at home. I have been on so many websites, I lost count!
Nothing is real, everything is a scam, everyone wants money...duh..if I had money to throw away, I wouldn't spend all my time on the computer searching for work.
Where are the honest sites, the real sites, the sites that actually have jobs available?
I have spent at least 3 hours everyday looking for something that I don't have to sell or buy.....help me, I'm going nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that you've broken the code. There are a million and one scams on the internet. You can certainly make money with a home based business, but it has to be a REAL business. You need either a real product or real service to sell and it has to be unique. Simply selling something that a million others are selling isn't going to make you much money.

Is there something that you excel at that others would want or pay for?

    Good Luck,

There are other options too. You can write a blog, you can sell on ebay, you can start a website and make money with affiliate advertising through shareasale, linkshare and others. The important thing as stated by the last poster is to pick something that is legitimate and not fall for all the scams and hype that are out there.

On the other end of the spectrum are the work at home companies.. there really are companies who will hire you and let you work from home. Most of the jobs are in customer service and sales and you do need to have skills.

I don't think it's easy to find a "trustful" long-distance (and anonymous) employer.

However, if you want to be your own employer, there are lots of opportunities out there.

Of course, if you think you will ever find "one opportunity" that will pay you to do nothing, then question yourself...

"would you pay someone to do nothing?"

    Of course not!

I have seen many scams, but fortunately for me, not every single program is a scam. (I wouldn't do business online if that was the case)

Let me give you one example... Lots of people (not all) are making a nice secondary income selling digital pictures online. Of course, one needs some knowledge to become successful, and... "patience" is involved as well.

But, what most people do is this... they buy a "good info product" on how to sell digital pictures (just an example), and that's it... They don't do anything with it, or, they get discouraged once they discover that it takes some "action".

There are lots of different people on this planet. Most folks fail to take any action with the information they got. Most folks don't even take any effort to dig a little bit deeper...
The purpose of a good info-product is to give you a head start, but you should always do something with that information as well. Do some research on your own once you know the basics : the more complicated stuff is usually freely available on the internet!

Any business you start is going to have costs. Home based businesses that have a program set up will cost money but that is not a scam. Yes, there may be scams out there, but most of these companies are legitimate. You need to research and see how long they have been in business. Anything that is a scam will be shut down within a couple of years.
Robert Kiyosaki recommends people with not a lot of cash to start up a business to consider a mlm home based business or something similar since the costs to start your own business is can be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you are looking to be employed and not have your own business than that is a different story.

You need to decide what you want to do and research the opportunities. If you think you can start your own business without any costs you are truly mistaken. You can always start your own business separate from any company but there will be costs and lots of time the start up costs of these companies are there to cover the sales and work done to set you up.

    Nothing in business is free....

Good luck, wishing you the best of success.

Seems like you're pretty worked up about this work at home thing. But I hope you realize that just because something takes an initial investment to get started doesn't mean that it's automatically a scam.

Plus there IS a difference between a work at home "Job" and a work at home "business opportunity." It sounds like you looking for a job, which shouldn't require any initial costs.

There are alot of real jobs from home. You need to do alot of research to find the real ones. Try typing in the name of the company followed by the words "scam" or "forum" or "complaints" to see what comes up. One company that alot of people work for is www.west.com. It is customer service and its a great place to start for your first work at home job. There are alot of people that work there. Just do alot of research and trust your instincts.

I would like to thank each and everyone of you that replied to this post. Sorry about the tanturm, I was just sooooo frustrated. I know there are jobs out there and yes, that's what i'm looking for, a job.
Ginene, I am awaiting email from West as we speak, I actually went there today before I saw this but thank you.
I was not looking for a free hand out...that's not me. I like to work and I like to be busy and I love to surf the net and learn new things and try different ideas. I was just so tired of people asking for money that I did not have.
I have only gotten trapped by that once, never again.
Thank you all for being so nice and helpful!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I shall now check out your websites and see if I can use any of the services you are offering when I do start making some cash.

I understand what you're saying about the frustration of looking for work at home jobs. The biggest probem with that is everyone wants to do it. The biggest issue is that anything that's real, one would have to put a lot work into it. For traditional jobs, you can just get a job and work and get paid. But for home jobs, there are not many things available. The ones that do work, you have to put in either money, time, or learn new skills. Writing blogs were big for awhile then everyone starts doing it. I doubt new blogs are making as much money as the old ones. Plus it'll take time before people even notice your blogs. Same with new websites.

I want to say one thing about blogs. They actually are very easy to get traffic to and it happens much faster than with a static website but you still have to do some promoting.

Second you can make money from them from more than affiliate advertising. You can use payperpost and blogitive and creamaid and other advertising mediums.

The key is that as with any business it DOES take time. The people making the BIG money with blogs have been at it for years. It is possible to make some pretty decent money with just payperpost though.

The other key thing with blogs is that you need to have more than one and a purpose. I use mine to drive traffic to my main website. I run 5 blogs and 4 websites. So many people think that you can just throw a blog or website together and start making money in a few minutes and that just isn't how it works.

"it has to be a REAL business. You need either a real product or real service to sell and it has to be unique."

I totally agree. There are so many so-called "Expert Gurus" out there are selling nothing more than a "concept or idea" that sounds like it might work. People want to make a decent living NOT promote something that just "Sounds Cool."

Most of these GURUS are self-proclaimed and don't even use the program, product or service themselves. They just SELL IT! That's they're JOB. For the very few that have made money, they will help you, but at an ASTRONOMICAL PRICE that they try to convince you is a REAL BARGAIN! ANd...only if you get it through them of coarse.

If you run into someone selling something that is nothing more than a concept or an idea that "sounds good"....RUN! If it doesn't solve a problem for a large group of people...RUN! If it is a re-hashed, old product or service that's been around the "NET" since Dirt was made and has just been, "wrapped in a new package"...RUN!

It is SOOOOO easy for anyone to flat out LIE about themselves or their level of success on the internet. I trust VERY VERY Few people in this arena. You cannot simply take these people at face value.

Unless they have a Long PROVEN Track record of Success with some reasonable amount of ethics and make themselves somewhat available, I don't even waste my time or energy when they send me their latest, greatest Next "Best thing to hit the internet" idea.

I wish I was the person who invented the "DELETE" button on the keyboard. Now there is someone who had a great product.[IMG]

Quoting: selfemployedWhere are the honest sites, the real sites, the sites that actually have jobs available?

    Hi Selfemployed,

It is depend what you would like to achieve, wheather you are looking for a job online or build a online business. If you looking for a job online, i believe there are some legitimate ones out there eventhough you will probably find much much more are just scams. Perhaps find those who offer job which does not require you to pay anything up front, beside if he is a real employer he would not ask his employee (future employee) to pay, right?

Secondly, if what you are looking for is to build a business on internet, then there are actually many business models on internet. They could be related to Ads revenue through building high traffic site (adsense, etc..) or pay per click marketing(adwords, etc..), sell Infoproduct (ebooks, softwares, etc..), Sell physical product (ebays, dropshipment model,etc..) and many more. You would need to do some research to understand the big picture and starting focus on niche market and biz model. Many of this information are free and some are only available for a fee. Always do a research before spending any money. Like building any business internet business will take time and money (usually much less $ than offline business). I just do not believe get rich quick is actually works for most legitimate business on internet and in general. Avoid those money games, chain letters ...they are mostly scams.

one of the way to get start quickly is to invest in complete ready to use maney-making site. What it does is getting everything ready for you to get you started quickly. Then you will need to follow daily lesson in how to build your business forward and actually doing it. This is a great ways to learn and by doing it. You can always build more business, websites, selling more other products in future. Again always spend money within your mean, take time to read and understand about what business opportunities they are offering. Like any business you would need to control your expenses in order to gain max profit.

    All the best [IMG]

I know the frustration...it took me three years of searching before I was hired for a real position. However, I learned that most people that offer "data entry" websites, "ad typing" positions, or basically any job that asks you to pay money to work for them or for more information about the position is pretty much a scam. I have only found a couple of job boards that actually seem to carry real jobs, but, you still have to browse through all of the jobs to find them. One of them is called Craigslist. That's where I found my job.

I feel your frustration. You're not alone in this. Legitimate home jobs is far and few. The rest are just out to make a buck.

Yeah, I want to know what was it that you found on Cragislist?

I too think that MOST businesses online are SCAMS! If you ever see these phrases RUN FOR THE HILLS AND HANG ON TO YOUR WALLETS!

Powerlines, doublers, two-ups, get 3 who get 3 who get 3 who get 3, HYIP's (King Of The Online Ripoffs) Matrixes, MLM, Auto-Ships, Pre-Launches, Multiple Streams Of Income (should be called multiple streams of EXPENSES) Have I left any out. If you see a sales page that is going to give you $5000 worth of software to buy their $47 product it too is probably a SCAM. All I can say is BUYER BEWARE!

    You Have Been Warned! Brad

How true this is and yet thousands of people still fall for these
scams and potentially illegal programs everyday.

    Do they ever learn?

Hello all....This is my first post, well "reply"...
I just wanted to let you all know ( I haven't seen it mentioned lately) that I am currently working for West WAHA. I am a single mom, and was searching forever to find something to do while my little ones slept at night. The company is based out of Nebraska, but they have a local office here in Erie, PA. One evening I was in our local chat room, and someone asked another girl if she was "working" that night....I jumped in and started asking questions....Come to find out, our local company here in Erie hires for home based Direct Response Agents. It's not a bad part time job AT ALL...I get to sit here in my jammies, with my hair in a bun, smoking cigarettes and drinking an occasional glass of wine (looking sexy as hell, lmao...) and all I do is answer calls for those crazy infomercials you see.
I work full time during the day, and make a decent salary, however I wanted to have that "extra" income to help pay for the bills left over from xmas (which good lord, they do add up!) Just this month I've brought in an additional $400 just from answering the phone...well, and shooshing the occasional "MEOW" from mumma kitty, lol You have the occasional prank and "obscene" phone calls, but you find your own way to deal with them [IMG]
I invested $0 in this. All you need is high speed internet and a land line phone, pass a few tests from West, and you're on your way. Once you're an independant contractor with them, they will offer you more opportunities such as HSN based on your performance. You pick your own hours (which go 1/2 hour increments), and you are paid by your talk time. You get paid every two weeks (either direct deposit or a debit/credit card)...It's really working out great for me, and I wanted to be able to share with everyone this great opportunity. (Especially if you're like me and want to make ends me)....

    Here's the link....
