I have a blog set up and I'd like to put some affiliates on there but I'm clueless how to get started with it?

    Any advice?

    Thanks.

Have you set up an account at Clickbank or places like commission junction?

Those are some places you can find products to market on your blog for affiliate commissions.

You will have links etc, to add to your blog then. Some use adsense, too, which is also free to sign up for... go to adsense.com and you can get a code to put on your blog that will add google ads to your blog and you can make money that way - by people clicking on your blog.

BUT, the most important part is that you are getting traffic to your blog - no traffic, no money.[IMG]

    1. Do some research on the affiliate products first.
    2. Write some reviews on the products.
    3. Have links to the products.

This is totally true, but I do want to add something. Try not to focus on products too much. At most 1 post out of 5 or so.

The reason for this is that pure review pages do get sales, but you get one shot. If the person sees nothing but reviews, whether they buy or not, they leave and never come back.

If, on the other hand, the majority of your posts are just interesting material for your readers, then they'll come back for more of the same. This way, when they are considering a purchase in the niche, your blog will pop into their minds as the place to look for reviews.

    Hi MyOwnBoss,

    Excellent advice.

That reminds me of a humorous bit from STAR WARS - Episode IV - when Han and Chewie were flying toward the death star with an "old" pass code.

Chewie wonders how to fly without looking like they were up to something tricky and Han says something like "I don't know Chewie, fly casual, but don't make it look like your flying casual...."

Anyways, what you say is true and so many people blow it by blasting visitors with the constant hard sell and/or affiliate links all over every page.

That approach really screams green, greedy, and desperate.

You can always advertise your products on a sidebar with banners or text links and blog about non-commercial subjects to drive traffic to your site. Of course marketing (ie back links) is important too.

If you have a targeted blog that focuses on a particular niche then you need to find products that people in the niche will be most likely to click on.

Checkout Clickbank, PayDotCom, Commission Junction, ShareASale, Linkshare, CliXchange, ClixGalore, Digital River, Performics, Kolimbo, ModernClick, Plimus, LeaderMarkets, 2Click...

This is a small sampling of the various affiliate centers that have digital and physical products that you can promote on your blog or website. Many of these companies also have widgets that can be customized to display products that fit your niche.

Write! Write! Write! Articles, forums, blogs, and more of all of them. As many ways as you can get your sites/affiliate products in front of people, the better chance you have for sales.

Your blog needs to be updated on a regular basis. Have a link to anything your promoting each time you update it.

And you want to make sure you get some exposure through Digg It, technorati, and a few others. Do them each time you update your blog.

    Hope This Helps

Do the 30 Day Challenge to get some knowledge on IM Ed Dale is quite good at teaching and a nice guy to boot. You can drive yourself crazy trying to figure it out on your own and getting different opinions that seem to contradict one another.

Everyone has their way of doing things that work for them and it may not work for you. You have to find your own little groove.
