    Hello everybody,
I am new to this and, just want say this is a great site for information. Thanks everybody for sharing! My wife and I just lost several thousands of dollars in a local business that we owned. Now we are broke, and are looking for an Internet business opportunity. I always thought of myself somewhat of entrepreneur. I am interested in affiliate marketing (publishing) I think, but I am not really sure what exactly I would be doing. I was signing up with CJ but it asked what websites I have, or something like that. Do I need to have a working web page before I can work in affiliate marketing? I am not even sure if that is the right place to start. We are looking for something that we can set on autopilot, but willing to do the work to get it going. We don't really want something that requires selling in person or by phone, but pays well. I can place ads or links on pages like CL, to generate sales. I also have a myspace account with 4k friends from the business that we closed. I was thinking of changing the page to whatever opportunity we get into, to generate sales from there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks everybody!

Yes you do need a webpage with CJ but when I first got started with them all I had was a blog or maybe it was a Squidoo lens - both of which are free...

But the main thing to remember with affiliate marketing or internet marketing is that it takes TRAFFIC to make money. So just as in a physical business, where you have to do marketing or advertising to get people in the door, so you have to do with internet stuff - except it's a total different ball game!

Most of your learning curve will come in the area of getting traffic to a site and I would reccomend SBI as a great tool to get you started.

There will be other tools out there and you may find something else that will catch your eye - and that's okay. As long as you find something that can get you on the path to learning how to market via the internet.

    Good luck![IMG]

I always recommend network marketing =].

I feel like it has the smallest learning curve with the fastest income. As well, in affiliate marketing you only get paid once for your efforts and for one level deep. (who you get)

With Network Marketing you get paid every month for your efforts and in some cases unlimited levels deep!.

There is a common misconception that you need to "sell" with network marketing. The realization that most people come to is that is the mistake Network Marketers make... There is NO selling at all.

I generate over 25 prospects every day online that I do personally call but I don't have to. Then I take a consultative approach. I find out their needs, wants, goals and motives to see if they align with who I am looking for and if I can help them or not. If I can help them I tell them I can help them and 9 times out of 10 they sign up. I never do any selling whatsoever.

Ultimately whichever one you are comfortable with and want to do will be the best choice for you.

If you want to take the Network Marketing route, don't hesitate to get in touch with me. I am happy to help you find a business that suits you and a marketing style that would work well for you.

    To Your Success,

I am with Matthew on this one too. I would get into network marketing online or offline. There are many good companies out there to generate a nice residual income.

And yes, you will have to spend money too in order to succeed.

I agree, with network marketing companies, you can start to build your online business. However, it will all depend on your willingness to learn and with your persistence.

There are not such systems, which can bring you money on autopilot. You will need to work hard to get some good results.

The most important factor, which you have to learn is the promotion. You can buy whatever system, but if you will not learn how to promote, it will not work.

I can relate to this story somewhat FERNIE1805

At one point a few years ago my other half and myself had a cafe business. We worked hard and put in many hours. I hated having to buy stock and deal with the coffee machine packinhg it in or the grinder not functioning properly. Sometimes I'd spill a whole bag of coffee on the ground or milk would go of or that would get spilled too. Ahhhh!! But the biggest pain was I had to actually , physically be there. No us working the coffee machine = no money. We sold th business and were neutral...we didnt lose money but we didnt really make much. we sold up to get into online marketing. Now online I make a "cup of coffee" once so to speak and I sell it over and over again 24 hours a day 7 days a week globally. I dont have to go shopping for supplies everyweek, I dont have equipment issues and Im not throwing out food.....and most importantly im not obsessively & hygenically cleaning morning and night (I HATED that !!)

    its brilliant .
im not limited to my local area or timezones like i was with coffee&food obviously. I cant tell you enough how much better an online business is compared to a physical brick & mortar (or coffee&milk as it were).

And you are right in wanting something automated....thats he path I chose and have not looked back..Good Luck !

Before you do ANYTHING, you need to know what you're doing whether it be Affiliate Marketing or MLM.

There are many easy (and cost effective) tutorials out there that will greatly reduce your learning curve. That's how I started and it actually will help you develop your own business or website as you go along. To jump in blindly is a great way to lose money, quickly.

As for the website, go to Scriptlance, once you've figured out what you want to do. You can get professional graphics and copy written for an insanely low amount of money. I'm talking like $20-$50 bucks. Really, no joke, I use them all the time. It also saves me time from hacking around and trying to do it myself.

Hope this helps. PM me if you have anymore questions.

I'm sorry about your business, but don't feel bad. All businesses have a rough start. My dad's started several.

Yeah, Affiliate Marketing is the way to go, but before you even embark on it, make sure that financially you have enough to live on. Even with the right affiliate marketing coaching programs, it can still take 6 months before you see steady results. I'm just being realistic.

So if you absolutely got to have a job to make ends meet until you get your affiliate business going, don't feel ashamed to do so.

Yes, you are going to need a website, but a simple squeeze page is more than what you need.

I'm a big believer in the right training. You can sell in any profitable niche, with a quality product, but if you cannot master basic online marketing skills in a comprehensive manner, it will a long, arduous road to success.

It's not enough to just do the steps. You need to know why, how, when, where, why not, and if you need to do the steps. Some steps work better in certain conditions than others. Without the big picture of making money online, it's easy to get stuck and not know how to proceed or analyze what you did wrong.

So be prepared to learn well, and be patient because making money online is actually counterintuitive. You provide value first, then money comes to you. The old days of fast internet marketing wealth are quickly dying out. The FTC has made it even tougher. In a way, this is a good thing. People deserve worthwhile value, not scams and half-effort programs.

Learn to set up your business for the long term for the best benefit.

Very very few people have an easy start and have an easy road to success in this wonderful business of network marketing but many have many obstacles along the way like:

Not having enough money in the bank to do this business
Friends and family laugh at them
    People reject your opportunity
A part of your mind tells you that you will not succeed.
And so many other negative factors.

If you persist, take action, never give up, work on your thinking, then you will succeed.

I heard once that this business is 98% attitude and 2 percent mechanics. I think that this is very true because if you attitude is not that good and you expect good results then that is not going to happen.

Attitude is very important in this business and beats everything else that you need to do in order to succeed.
