Hi, I need some marketing advice. I just got started with a cool company and I got overloaded with information and now I am confused. First of all, I am looking for all the best free ways to market my website. I heard a lot about web 2.0 but I wasn't able to find good info on it. I also have time to market only 2 hours a day when my baby sleeps so I am wondering what are the most effective ways to get it going real fast.
You are, guys, real pros here, I would be so grateful to get some of your advice. Thank you so much!

    Hi adelaida,

For Web 2.0 platforms look into free blogs such as WordPress or Blogger. Additionally, check out Squidoo, Hub Pages, Stumble Upon, Digg, and similar.

Write articles and create a press release. Comment on relevant forums and blogs with a sig link.

That should get the traffic flowing. They are all free.

If you don't know what some or all of them are, spend a few days reading through the threads on this forum.

By the way, you have an extra "http://www." in your sig.

    Welcome to the forum.

Thanks. Now should I blog about home business or something else? I tried to write about home business but I really don't know much about it and one of my friends - a pro in marketing - made it clear that I suck. I do not want to give up, I want to write but it's hard to write about something I do not know.
Yeah, I know I have an extra http thing, I couldn't figure out how to make it clickable, but at least it works... Duh... I feel so dumb sometimes, I think it is because I completely got out of my comfort zone and I have to learn so much on the computer... But I 'll keep fighting for my dream and thank you so much for reaching out to help. I love this forum!

Oh, I also got some lenses and hubs done, but I think they are not very rich in content, so how do I find good content for this?

You can fix your signature by just placing these tags around your url. Be sure to take out the extra set of http://www first.

If you don't know much about home business, then choose a subject you do know about. What have you done in the past? What do you enjoy as a hobby? What do you do for fun? What would your friends and family say you were good at?

If you still struggle coming up with something - what would you like to learn a lot about? To write good content you need to know what you are talking about.

It's my opinion that if you want to genuinely help people with the information you provide (no matter what the subject matter) and keep that as your main priority, you'll do okay in the long run.

When you are only in it for the money, not really caring about the quality of your recommendations, you may make some money, but may not have long term success.

If you have no knowledge of the topic you research, research and then research some more. It helps if you already have some knowledge and it's a topic you're interested in yourself.

    Hi Adelaida,

You are in a similar situation to me i have to work round my baby too!
I must agree with newbie shield though, i find that blogs, forums articles and squidoo pages are the best.

Try classified ads, submitting to directories and leaving your link in comments on other peoples blogs.

See how you go with that and just post more questions if your stuck on anything!

    Hi Adelaida,

Newbie Shield gave you some great advice. Definitely start a blog. You should bookmark your posts using something like That will get your posts noticed and read.

Article marketing is huge for creating backlinks which is what you essentially want. Go to and read as much as you can. You will get an idea about how to write a decent article. They have lots of info on that site for that.

If you would like, I have a training program for my team and its not at all about my program but how to promote any program. Just PM me with your email and I can add you. I am doing some updates too!

    Take care,

    Hi Victoria,
You just gave some great advice the 30DC is an awesome way for a newbie to learn IM. I'm still on my second time around and hope to get a better grasp on it this time. My fault not theirs my focus was off so I had to backtrack.

Yes, I agree with article writing. Make your signature box tease your readers into visiting your website for more information.

Also, Google loves it when you post information on your website. So writing about pertinent topics every month or so will show Google that your site is active and provides more than just Buy This.

And perhaps you can connect with other folks with websites whose products compliment [not compete with!] what you are promoting - then maybe you could do a mutual link-posting-exchange. Always assuming you check them out and they are quality, of course.

    Hope this helps,
