If there would be a company that had a product that would retain members. From my experience, I have never seen a product desired enough to keep members. After a while if people are not making money they drop out.

I like the MLM idea but finding a winning product, company and business plan to be successful is a challenge.

    Hi Mark,

There is no company out there that can keep all of the people that sign up as members forever. People who do join any company do drop out.

Some drop out after a week. Some drop out after a month and so forth.

If you come in with a mindset that this business is a numbers game then you will do well.

Those who never quit and go through many failures and setbacks do succeed after all. It is so easy to start but very few people who do get into this business lack "Finishing Strong".

There is a way around MOST of that =].

Only recruit people that really want to join your business. If you don't convince them.. They will most likely know what they are in for and work for it. If you use "attraction marketing". You will find more qualified and dedicated partners.

Companies offer both a business and a product for VERY good reason.

A large portion of people don't work the business.. They just buy the superior-to-store product, or in some cases.. A Unique product.

How are you judging whether the 'case' product retains customers or not?

I think fewer people actually drop out (all-together) than you would expect with most MLMs.

However the 2% rule is still in effect.. Only 2% will work the business and stick it out.

Lastly think Wal-Mart and use leveraging to bring in the masses.

A small price point will get you a much larger downline much faster... As well when people leave your business.. it won't effect you as much because much more come in than leave.

    Good luck with your search,

If mlm was so easy, everyone would being doing it and making a fortune. The thing is it is easy conceptually, but most don't really focus on doing the things to win to make the conceived a reality.

Too many get in a biz opportunity just not understanding it's about the market of the business regardless. If you get good market techniques down that bring you quality traffic, you will find mlm at least a lot easier. You can't just get hyped up on an opportunity unless you know you are going to have effective training and support to help you and your team achieve success.

Most get involve to make money and not for the product, so having the tools and techniques in place for helping people actually make money is what will help sustain you and your team in nearly any biz opportunity.

    Thank You!

    I like GBG.

But I got involved for the vitamins, then I adapted to the business.

Their main website isn't the best but its: http://www.shopgbg.com

This is the only company that I have found with a truly discounted product.. (that is great!) and a payplan built for the masses that doesn't "use" the people on the bottom.

    I think it's a true win-win. Which is why I got involved.

    Good Luck!

Yes I agree Mark...very few MLM companies have a product or service that keeps you coming back for more. As far as making money I found that with MLM, commissions are to small and hence responsible for drop-outs due to not making enough money as you have stated. This leads to dead downlines and reps that need constant hand holding.... painful !!

I walked away from MLM due to these reasons for a better alternative and yes finding a good product & business plan is , as you say, a challenge indeed !

Best of luck on your search.

Commissions get big if you stick with the MLM and do not give up. They don't start out big because you are only leveraging a few people. As your downline builds down and out it will continue to leverage LOTS of people... Which is where the big pay starts.

Sure starting out you might only make $2-4 an hour of real work.. But between 6 months and 2 years later you can live the rest of your life how you want on your terms.. And you won't lose your downline if you are involved with a low ticket item because there will always be more people recruiting and joining than leaving =]. True residual income for life. So you can't beat the business model.

There are lots of things people do not like about MLM.. But those who truly want to change their life.. CAN and WILL.

P.S. Hold your reps hands as much as they need it and help them.. Teach them to do the same with others.. Create online training and assist them with it. Help them succeed with the way they want to succeed.. Do EVERYTHING you can for them.. Assuming they commit to it and WORK themselves.

If helping people is painful... This isn't the right business for you.

Which I suppose is why you are not in it =].

    Hi Matt
    Just to clarify the
"This leads to dead downlines and reps that need constant hand holding.... painful !! "

Helping your team is fine....when I say constant hand holding Im refering to those people who want you to do everything for them. This type of business requires self dircted people who take responsibility for their own outcomes..."cry babies need not apply" so to speak. Im certain you have also experienced the rep who comes in all fired up...you show them everything they need to know and they simply do nothing !

I think that is where the 2% comes in...some will work, most won't ... it's just a fact and always has been with mlm ... [IMG]

    That is more understandable =].

When I feel a person out in the initial consultation if they show signs they are going to be a "dud" then I will tell them I think they need to do more research before getting involved in an MLM and they are not the right fit for my team.

Of course some "duds" slip by my radar every now and then... They suck all of the life out of you!

On the other hand I'm happy to break my back for anyone willing to put in the work.

Keeping in mind that 2% of everyone will build a good business and stick with it.. You can sort out the 2% to an extent to increase your odds of getting them =]. Find people with the RIGHT character traits and many times you can pick winners.

People forget.. This is YOUR business.. You can choose who you want to work with [IMG]. I help everyone... That I accept into my business and if they work too... That keeps my time free for the people that DESERVE it.

Learn to recruit "winners" and your life will be much easier and profitable in MLM.

You might be excited.... But just because someone is FIRED UP about your business.. Does NOT mean you should let them join..

It absolutely IS their privilege to join YOUR business.

    MLM is simply... Unbeatable

I think its no different to when people join a gym for 12 months and pay up for the whole year then disappear after 2 months.

    Mark,

There is a company that has a low drop out rate.
Trivita allow you to purchase "buying customers".

It is true they do not all purchase every month
and some of them never purchase but I have
gotten paid consistently every month because
some of the customers purchase every month.
Because of this there is very low attrition.

Of course, it would grow even bigger and faster
if you recruited but I just wanted to make a point
that here is a company out there that doesn't
depend solely on recruiting. They are customer
    based.

Also, with the Nopalea drink that has been out for
a few months, this product has helped a lot of
people with inflammation. I am living proof,
I was having terrible arthritis pain in my knee.

I was very skeptical that this "drink" would help
that but I decided to try it anyway. After two
weeks of drinking this my knee pain did go
away. I just take one ounce a day for
maintenance and I remain pain free. Others
have gotten similar results so they do keep
ordering this product when it has helped
    them become pain free.

Just wanted to state my opinion.

I admire the research you have put into this. I know a few weeks ago you posted about your 2010 goal and had no idea which business you were going to join.

    It will pay off =].

Everyone should thoroughly research MLM before joining.

If you take the same care with your business. I'm sure you will be successful in any MLM you do decide to choose.

    Best of Luck,

Becky and Matt I like what you are doing with finding products that people want and products that help them. It is a bonus if they become business builders and get a down line going but if they are consistent buyers and you get a commission every month, they are valuable too. Chance are they will tell others what is working for their ailments and more customers may come on board.

The key with MLM, Affiliate marketing or any business for that matter is to see growth each month.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions from all posters on this forum.

Really to be honest, it doesn't matter how good the company is or the product. And it doesn't matter how great the compensation plan is.

    What really matters is MARKETING.

Marketing is your real business. When you take your mind off your company, product, compensation plan and put it on marketing, generating leads, and creating relationships with all of those leads you will be able to recruit people in your opportunity.

    To Your Success,

    Dave

    Marketing is important.

But I don't agree with you there.

It's important to have a good stable company. It is also very important that you love the product.. I mean you are representing it..

The compensation plan isn't as important. But it is important that you get compensated [IMG].

    Just my take,
