Out of curiosity, with everybody vying to get traffic to their websites, how does anyone make any money?

Some are better than others in getting the "TARGETED" traffic to their web site

To be successful doing business online requires you to understand how the game is played and to know exactly what role you play in it. After that it's simply a matter of refining a system that works for you and delivers qualified traffic to your website around the clock.

So if you market product reviews, for example, you could share with your readers your own user experiences with the products. Tell your story - the good, the bad and the ugly.

    - Explain how easy (or difficult) it is to use a particular product.
    - What do you like best?
    - What do you absolutely dislike?
    - What would you add or change to make it more appealing?
    - Why?
    - Is it better suited for newbies or experienced marketers?
    - Does it deliver on its promotional claims?
    - It is overpriced?
    - What specific results did you get from using it?
    - Would you recommend it?

    You get the idea.

So, if your role is to deliver the most objective, hard-hitting, comprehensive product reviews on the Internet, based on your direct involvement with the products, this would be a way to distinguish yourself from the competition. You'll be offering a superior product.

Eventually you'll become known for your no-nonsense, thorough reviews and readers would come to you first because they trust you and can rely on your judgment.

Hermas is correct, but there is something I'd like to add. The broader the niche, the harder it is going to be to get targeted traffic.

If you are trying to build your business on the subject of internet marketing you will almost certainly have a much more difficult time getting the traffic you need to make money than you would if you chose a less competitive niche like fly fishing in Quebec or some such thing.

Choose a niche subject that you really do know something about or know you will enjoy learning about and go from there. Although there is more money in competitive niches, it's much harder to get that money to YOU than in a less competitive and/or saturated niche.

The same principles apply that Hermas has outlined regardless of the niche, but you will undoubtedly succeed more quickly if you apply them to a narrower market.

    Hope that helps.

The best analogy I could give to explain this would be that we are all standing under niagara falls trying to catch water in a teacup. What that means is that traffic on the web is so vast and large that you're always going to be able to get your piece of the pie. It's not as if there is a limited amount of web traffic to be had and that some of us are scarfing it all up.

I promote Wealthy Affiliate, and I would say that I get less than one tenth of one percent of the traffic on the intermet of people searching for 'Wealthy Affiliate'. But it doesn't matter, I don't need to get ALL of it. Iget the traffic that I do get and it's enough. If I can figure out how to get more of that traffic, then that's great and I'll go with that.

But massive traffic isn't required for success. Especially if you'r marketing a product that generatesresidual income. Also market a quality product. I market Wealthy Affiliate because it's a product that people are going to stick with for awhile rather than sign up for one month and then quit. And then there are those who get Wealthy Affiliate to start working for them, and they NEVER quit! I'm never going to quit Wealthy Affiliate. I've even written a blog post on the subject. I make significantly more money with Wealthy Affiliate than I have to pay for their paltry monthly membership fee, so why quit?
