Finally moved in and mostly set up.

It's already worth it - living in a mature woods with a creek in our backyard and 5 minutes from where I grew up. Doesn't hurt to have all the best shopping centers in the state within 5 minutes away.

One thing is for sure though - I'll never participate in another move except to pack boxes. From now on, I'm going to pay good money to have professionals do the heavy lifting!

Though I run 5 miles a day, stretch out before and after and bench over 325 pounds free weights, hit the heavy bag, speed bag, double ended bag, reflex bag, and more every day...I never thought I would be sore from a move!!

    Never again.

Furthermore, my most valuable resource is my TIME!

What was I thinking? I'm such a ditz some times [IMG]

Lesson = think before you act, which is something I preach all the damn time. God forbid I should ever take my own advice. Did you know that I was sore for a full 7 days...JESUS!

I think we had something like 50 large boxes full of stuff plus the large stuff. Owie, I honestly thought that I damaged my poor middle-aged body, lol.

Another lesson = never forget that your personal time and effort quickly becomes your very most valuable resource! I can't stress this enough. TIME!

If you haven't guessed by now, I'm mad as hell and fully disgusted with myself. Sometimes, efficiency is better left in the trunk!

From now on, it's hirelings and servants!

I have lived in the woods most of my married life and my next move will be to the beach.....ahhhhh.... and I am going to sell all my stuff and buy new.[IMG] [IMG]

    Hey we can dream, right??

We have moved a number of times and each time we get rid of more stuff... but somehow we still always have tons.

It sounds nice NS and I am happy for you... in fact it sounds pretty much perfect.[IMG]

    Hi Victoria,

Sounds like your online marketing is going well. Hopefully you get there soon!

    Hi M5,

I guess when that happens we'll have to start calling you beachmom5 instead? Watch out for those hurricanes [IMG]

Likewise yet we seem to have more on each move. I figured out why I got so sore. I hustled too much while carrying boxes and furniture and never took a break. I should have walked slowly and taken a few breaks.

    Thanx [IMG]

    Thank you Vishal.

Looks like you've settled on the perfect location. You get to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a natural setting; you have convenient access to urban facilities, and you are a stone's throw away from where you experienced some of your most nostalgic moments as a boy. Good for you!

Surprise! [IMG] Maybe you should have done some squats. The bending, stooping, flexing and lifting motions of that exercise uses the same sets of muscles involved in lifting heavy boxes. That may have helped.

Still, it never seems to matter how fit you are, unless you're a professional mover, you're going to be sore after any do-it-yourself move.

Anyway Shield, I'm glad to hear you're recovering and are almost settled in. I wish you many years of healthy, happy experiences there.

    Hi Hermas,

I think that's it - different motions involving using muscle groups in new ways...plus the fact that I rushed the movement and never took a break. Being a few years into middle age probably came into play to an extent as well [IMG]

I've never moved before, live all my years where I was born, but now that i'm getting married, we're going to move...I can't wait. I'll learn and hire professionals to do the moving. lol

It's a nice feeling moving to another neighborhood. We've moved last January 1 hour away from our childhood neighborhood and it is a great feeling being in a new and hospitable neighborhood.

I bet it would cost $50+ an hour to hire Newbie Shield....

    Only $10-$12 per mover =]

I believe you overcharged yourself sir.
