    Hi manudevil20,

Just saw your message! Hopefully you can help me. I need help advertising my website. I am affiliated with a wellness company that has great products. I work with the young and the old. But I have no idea how to get people to my website or where to go to post my address. This forum is the only thing I have done. I am not that computer savvy so the language is a little bit hard to understand.

Someone told me to cache my mouse, what the hetch does that mean! lol I didn't want to ask because they would have thought that I was silly! Anyway, hopefully you can help me learn how to do some free advertising with my site.

    Hi Kim,

Before you do anything at all, learn as much as you can. Learn each major component of online marketing. Then spend the time drilling down into each component so you know quite a bit about them as well.

Put the horse before the cart or I can promise that you will regret it. Education first and it takes a few months of hard study.

One of the most common and most costly mistakes a newbie can make is learning a couple things and then diving right in. You'll just get demoralized and there is a good chance you'll quit if you don't do things in the general proper order.

As far as "caching your mouse" goes...I've never heard of that combination in a single sentence used before. Either the person who said it meant something else, was talking about two different things, or had no idea what they were talking about.

Read, read, and read [IMG] I know the company probably has you hyped up about making money online, but don't jump the gun.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Hang out here for a while and dig through a bunch of posts. You'll get a feel for the major components and leads on how to learn about each component.

    Newbie,

Thanks for your help. But I do have a question you said learn each major component of marketing. Where do I learn this? I am not so interested in creating a downline, I would like to just sell for now. Any tips?

    Hi Kim,

I have a bit of bad news for you. If your site is a duplicate company site that is the same as many other distributors (except for your names) you are not going to be successful with it online unless you buy your traffic.

The search engines do not rank those sites because they are copy cat sites - all the same. I hope the company isn't charging you much (read anything) because it really isn't worth anything to you, realistically.

If you want to sell the product because you believe in the product, you can do that online and do it successfully. However, you are going to have to build your own site about a specific niche that your company products deal with.

Okay, I'll have to spill the beans here. I just started a new site a couple of weeks ago with the intention of promoting some NM products. So, I chose a niche that deals with the solution the products solve. I haven't put my new site out there yet, but I'll use it for the sake of this illustration.

Some of the products of this company are herbal colon cleansing products and immune system builders like barley, carrots, and beets. So, based on my research, I chose to build a site called allaboutparasites.com

It is my own site, rather than a replicate company site. I will not be limited to promoting only these products, but I can also add other related affiliate products other NM products if I so choose, etc.

If anything should happen with this particular company, all my work is not wasted. I can just find another company with good quality products that relate and promote them.

The search engine will send me free traffic because my content is unique and my pages are optimized for the keywords.

I know that is a lot to take in and is probably not what you want to hear, but I just spoke to a girl the other day who has spent several thousand dollars on a site that isn't going to go anywhere. I was devastated for her. I hate to see anyone else make the same mistake because they were given bad advice.

I'll send you a link via private message that explains this a bit better than I can. Look into it or ignore it. Completely up to you, but I felt compelled to help you get on the right track with this before you go too deep into debt (both financially and with your time).

    Blessings,
    Angie

    Hi Angie,

Thanks for the great advice! But I have to be honest with you. I am not that computer savvy and I have no idea how to build my own website. Maybe you can give me some direction and I can put all my time and energy into my own website.

There are two approaches you can take.
    1. Spend the money on a webpage creator type tool
    2. If you don't want to spend money try a free tool with templates to get your page up.

    Some advice:
No matter how you slice it or dice it you're gonna have to learn at least basic HTML. It really isn't that hard at all.

I found this site to be very helpful, and still refer to it from time to time.

Spend some time learning the ropes...you'll benefit down the road tons and tons. I can assure you it's really not that difficult and if you need a live answer I will be more than happy to help where I can.

    Hello again Kim,

Believe me, I didn't have the first idea how to build a website either. If you look at the sites I have built, though (in my sig.), you wouldn't know that (I say humbly). [IMG]

Truly, I know everyone wants to go the "free" route, but in my opinion and from my own experience, it just isn't as easy for someone who knows nothing about web building or online marketing as people make it sound.

My husband always says, "It sounds easy when you say it fast."

It's not that free tools and methods don't work, it's just that they take time to figure out first of all what tools you need, how the tools work, the general understanding of what you want to accomplish, the importance of keyword research, search engine optimization, search engine submission, and a whole lot more.

I couldn't begin to decipher any of that on my own when I was starting. Sure, I could figure out how to throw up a site using Freewebs or something, but if you don't do it "right" it is all just a waste of time. You've got to be able to build properly in order to actually get free targeted traffic.

I'm big on following instructions. If someone tells me what to do step by step, I can do that. As I do it, I then understand it and "get the hang of it."

That is why I am so happy with SBI. They take you from zero knowledge to successful business step by step.

There is so much I don't know about online marketing yet. But, as I get to each stage in my business growth, I know that I can get to the next step with good advice and guidance.

I definitely recommend that you do put your time and energy into your own site. It will be your business, then. The honest to goodness best way to do that for beginners is SBI. (And that is whether you use my link or not!) [IMG]

If you have any more questions, feel free to send me a private message or post them here.

    Blessings,
    Angie

I couldn't agree with this more. You can learn anything over time. If you'd like to get started right away on something happywife has a good site, you can also try talking to a mentor type person in whatever you're doing if you're lucky they can help a lot.
In the end you're going to have to invest time into whatever you do, be prepared for trial and error.

Wishing you more trials than errors,
    Gil
